Where's Tuberville?

Post by Carson »

Louisville didn't want him.
Notre Dame didn't want him.
Virginia didn't want him.

Jimmy Sexton, agent for Tubby (and Saban and Nutt and Muschamp AND Phulmer), better get off his fat ass and earn his commission...or is he happy with just the severance payment? Or maybe the word's out that Wingnut is a snake oil salesman.

maybe Indy can correct me, but Sherman's contract is guaranteed until 2058 or something. ATM has deep pockets, but a public school (even with private moneys) buying that thing out would be tough to justify at the statehouse or with the good people of the GSOT in this economy.

i don't claim to understand the Sherman hire at all. he wasn't on anyone else's radar and turns up at ATM with a fat contract. He had been as assistant at ATM in the early 90's but still seemed strange to me.

Bwaa, Now Kansas has hired Turner Gill over Tubby!

The only reason he didn't get run from AU back in 2002 is he beat bammer in their crib...after losing BADLY to Georgia and LSU.

If somebody does screw up and hire him as a HC, get ready for:

PHASE I - Water down the schedule
PHASE II - Suck off the media
PHASE III - Imply other schools cheated to out-recruit him

I'd be surprised if UF wanted him.

If something should happen to Leavitt under the ongoing investigation, then I think you'll see a serious push for USF to go after Tuberville.

Tubberville... He's either at the network studios or at his house in Grayton Beach, at least those would be my guesses. Nice place, in walking distance to The Red Bar. Too bad it still has some major work to be done to it. Must be nice to have the bankroll to purchase a $2M fixer upper. Rough life I'm sure. :meds:

So he's already a Florida resident?

Hmmm

I wonder if he's letting fatass Agent Sexton sunbathe on his deck. Florida Wildlife will mistake him for a beached whale.

I don't know if he claims Florida residency but he has owned a number of homes in Grayton Beach since he was the Coach at Ole Miss... keeps upgrading though he bought his most recent not long after he became the HC at Auburn. The land was worth more than the actual structure though. The highest and best use would actually been to knock down the house and either sale or rebuild but he wanted to get it fixed up and add on.

Tubby supposedly interviewed at TT yesterday.

Get ready for no scoring in the second half, fools.

the transition(s) in terms of style of play, roster personnel, fan expectations (do you like winning or losing 41-31 or 24-16 better?) will be interesting. got a squad set up to run spread at skill positions, OL blocking and splits, and mixed bag of sometimes success at D (usually a gambling style) vs. what Tuberville will bring in and emphasize. which is to say, the crossover 2-3 years could be interesting. a Tech team that can really score coupled with some improvement on the D side, could be a tough out. or: they could struggle due to talent/size/speed up front on both sides and neither score or defend well enough to be very good.

if i were a Tech fan, I'd be mixed about this. Tuberville probably gives you stability (more than the pirate who was a ticking clock) and recruiting cred, but the re-tread factor would be pretty high for me as well.

Taco tech will now fade into mediocrity, like they were in SWC.

The Pirate was the reason the program was ranked and making bowl games.

Tuberville was the "safe" hire. But will be a bad hire in the end.

Agreed. Bad hire, but of course I'm fine with that. I'm sure a&m fan is loving it.

Anybody still have that av with the Tech guy "jerkin' it" under the bell?

It would be appropriate right now.

Why even bother with the nonsense anymore? They know, they just can't admit it. Give 'em a tissue or something next time.

Maybe even a children's aspirin or some Flinstone's chewable tablets.

remember the 23-0 beatdown in Auburn by USC in 2003, where AU couldn't cross midfield until the fourth quarter? Three guesses who the OC was...
