Clearly the game of the week next week.

The Cowboys clinched a playoff spot and can make it a home wild card game when they win Sunday. The only question is, can they also get the first round bye? They can if the Vikings lose to the Bears tonight and then lose to the Giants next week... which is not a crazy possibility.

I would like to take this opportunity to focus on the Eagles. Like I stated in another thread, I cannot for the life of me figure out why, since last summer, everyone has been so nuts about this team. Every single forecast I read had them in the Super Bowl vs. the Patriots. Why? And with Westbrook done, why do people STILL think they are the best? Maclin and Jackson are solid, but with Newman and Jenkins in single coverage on them, it's a mismatch. And who do the Eagles have on defense? They are average at best.

This is an important game because every single preseason forecast had the Giants or Eagles (mostly the Eagles) winning the NFC East. I think I was the only one in our Fearless Forecast thread that picked the Cowboys to win it outright, and this will be poetic justice against all the dumbfuck Eagle nutlickers when Dallas piles on and gets revenge for that 44-6 game last year that everyone jacked off over. This is not your '08 Cowboys...this team is MILES (pardon the pun) better, and Romo is poised to win his first Super Bowl ring for sure. I like Wade quietly becoming a clutch coach this year and I really don't see this game being close. I think the Eagles will get a bullshit TD at the end to make it look close and the Cowboys win by 7.

Philadelphia is a first round exit against the Cards or whoever they will play.

Against my better judgement I'll debate with this troll.

The Eagles were overrated to start the season but have managed to piece together a nice streak despite a loss to the Raiders earlier in the season. Westbrook is not done and played 15 snaps this past week. He'll get more against Dallas and I predict he'll have a big game. No one can cover Jackson in single coverage. It's been proven week after week. You also didn't mention Celek who has grown into a top 5 TE in the league. Defensively the Eagles are weak in some spots (safety) but very strong along the D line. Ever heard of Trent Cole? Sheldon Brown is having a pro-bowl year on 1 leg and Samuel is playing decent.

Chances are these 2 teams are playing against each other in round 1 of the playoffs. Though I prefer the game to be at home, I think it really won't matter this late in the season. I say that b/c the Eagles are coming off a very tough win aginst a tough Broncos team and so I suspect the Eagles may lose next week..

At this point, the 2 seed is still Minnesota's to lose. It seems more likely that Philly and the Cards will be 3/4 (in either order) and will play either the Pack or the Cowgirls.

Both of which I would actually prefer to the Eagles.

This just in- Jamaal Jackson (Eagles C) gone for the year, which means that some scrub will go up against only the best NT in football, Jay Ratliff. Dude is a beast who will run through the line all afternoon. Can you say "ohhhhh shit" Eagles fan?

Jim, Celek is good but the Cowboys negate tight ends with their defense. Also, their defensive line is solid but it will be neutralized and eventually dominated by the Cowboys O-line. And even if the Eagles get a little pressure, nobody in the NFL is better at escaping and eluding and skipping around and firing first downs than Tony Romo. I admit that McNabb is still effective with this from time to time, but Romo is the new king of the magic play. He turns what looks like easy sacks into 20 yard td throws, and that will frustrate the Eagles into realizing that they can't fuck with him. I'm sure you heard Collinsworth talking about Romo last night and you covered your ears because he was telling you what you refuse to accept. It was after the TD toss to Roy and Collinsworth was talking about how his instincts are incredible, his pocket presence is amazing, the way he senses pressure and creates plays.

It's been a nice little run for the Eagles but now they have to play a real team. Wouldn't it be a hoot if they had to stick around town and take another asskicking in the Palace in Dallas the FOLLOWING week?

If the Viqueens play like they did last night, it could be the difference between a 2 seed and a 4 for Philly.

The Cowgirls still have Tony Homo. Once the playoffs come around, it's going to be color-blind passing.

With the prospect of having a week off after beating the Cowgirls I think the Eagles go balls to the wall and run the ball down their throat. The backup C had been drafted to play Guard but is a C by trade. There is something to be said about Andy Reid having a lot of depth at the OL position

Jim, Celek is good but the Cowboys negate tight ends with their defense. Zach Miller had a decent game against the Dallas D and Celek had a TD against the Cowboys in their 1st meeting. They showed Jerry in the press box today during the Cotton Bowl looking confident. Tomorrow's game is bigger than people think, because the Cowboys can get a bye. I got my facts wrong earlier. They need the Cards to lose to the Packers (should happen) and the Vikings to lose to the Giants (definately could happen). Cowboys win and they get the #2 seed and we all saw how they manhandled New Orleans this year. But I don't see the Saints even winning the divisional game. So, the Boys should get the NFC title game in Big D. Even when they win tomorrow and if one of those other teams loses, they can still get a home game in the NFC title.

As far as tomorrow, I don't think jim understands the defense he's about to see. Hamlin, Jenkins, Sensabaugh, that entire secondary is making the opposition hit the fetal position, and you know Ratliff and Ware are both going to go off tomorrow.

January should be a month of crickets chirping in this forum as Tony Romo guides his team to the title.

See my post above. It is not a battle for the 3rd seed. It can mean the 2nd seed, which Dallas has a great chance of getting. One of you laughed when I said that last week and then the Bears beat the Vikings.

I'll remember that and I'll make sure to continue to copy this post and and remind everyone how little you know what you're talking about when Romo kicks the Cardinals asses in the NFC title game in Big D. Your team is solid, but top to bottom the Cowboys have Pro Bowl caliber players at every position and I've said since August that they are the Super Bowl champions of this year. The development and maturity of Romo is the main factor in that.

And the best part is that Dallas is the Super Bowl team this year that I said they were, and my analysis about the Eagles starting center being out and Ratliff being the best NT in football held up as he mauled the Eagles line all day and forced a fumble early.

This is EXACTLY what I said would happen back in August- that the Cowboys defense would mold into the NFL's best in December and that it would be a huge factor in Title #6. That's BACK-TO-BACK shutouts by the Cowboy defense, and it's going to be a HOOT when the Eagles have to stick around and lick their wounds this week only to get their asses stomped AGAIN in Big D. 3-0 against the most overrated NFC Team coming into 2009- the Eagles. And I won't even mention Romo's typical dominant performance today as that would just be rubbing salt in the wounds.

Actually Cole played quite well. The fumbled snap was on McNabb not the center. McNabb had time and missed open receivers. The Eagles also abandoned the run/stuck with Westbrook too long.

Shit performance by Andy & Co. but I half expected a loss. Not sure of the numbers but beating a team 3x in a season including 2x can't be all that common.

The Eagles don't have a running game. That was conveniently ignored back in August when people were for some reason flinging manseed all over the Eagles roster. To win in the playoffs you need not only a stout defense like the Cowboys have, but you need a great running game, which the Eagles don't have. They have a couple little scatbacks who get buried at the line of scrimmage against good defenses, whereas the Cowboys have Jones running for like 7 yards a clip and the Barbarian (another 90 yards today) and of course Choice. Enjoy the Pro Bowl though

YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNN.

Sorry I just woke up after a two week slumber which included wins over the Saints, Redskins and now Eagles. A pretty impressive streak considering the pressure that was on the Boys. I must admit, I didn't expect this team to respond the way it has, as evidenced by the Season Over troll post.

Back to back shutouts for the Dallas defense is rather impressive considering they have never done it in their storied history. This defense is really clicking and the team, overall, has been playing solid football. This is the best winter ball they have played since the early 90's. I can only hope they have the same focus this week in preparing for a team they just stomped. Beating a team 3 times in the same season is tough, but not uncommon. Teams who have beaten an opponent twice have a 63% chance of winning a third time. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, they have been in this position twice, both at home, and taken a crap going 0-2.

Philly will be back, and I look for McScabb to throw the deep ball more often. A glimmer of hope I see for the Boys is that McDermott is no Jim Johnson. Romo and the offense actually seem to have an understanding of where the blitz is coming from. That's not something I could say in previous years under Johnson.

Playoff prediction?

After reading this today:
After the game, Reid went out of his way to say that you couldn't just pin this mess on a key group of young players who didn't step up in a big spot. Minutes later, McNabb chose to place more of a focus on the kids.

"We showed our youth," the quarterback said. "We showed our youth in situations where everyone would begin to look around to see who was going to make the play instead of stepping up and making that play. That's something that comes with the territory when you have a young group. I think at this time, having discussed it with the guys, everybody understands it."
I'm all but certain that McNabb just doesn't get it. Instead of taking the blame as any legitimate leader does, he passes the blame on his 2 young receivers. While they had a couple drops, the passes that counted were either overthrown (to Jackson which would have been 6 points) as well as 2 passes to Maclin which would have required him to have experience in gymnastics to catch because he couldn't lead him on 2 cross routes. The (lack of a) 2 minute drill was also atrocious and is squarely on the QB who needs to get his team up to the line, call the play or spike the ball. McNabb jogs slower than some of his offensive lineman, if that's possible.

It's been awhile mgo, but that cry is about to be muffled as they pick up four postseason wins this year. From a pure football fan perspective, we could be about to witness something pretty special. The '85 Bears almost ran the table with all shutouts in the postseason, but they only played three games. The way this defense is peaking and the cluelessness on the opponents' offense, we could be witnessing a complete blanketing of the opposition this year. To be more realistic, they could average 7 points given up per game, which would be damn impressive. I'm attributing this to how fast this defense is and how teams just aren't able to keep up with them at this point in the year with injuries, age, etc. Jenkins and Hamlin are BEASTS in the secondary and that D-Line is giving teams no time to even wipe their asses after sacks. There are some high-octane offenses in the NFC, which makes the quad-goose egg harder to pull off, but consider this- The Vikings have the same type of talented, fast, but inexperienced receivers, just like the Eagles. And with the Cowboys pass rush getting to Warner, that one receiver (Bolden is injured and hobbling) will be a non-factor. And we all know how the Cowboys own Green Bay lately. The 'Taints will be gone in the divisional round.

Dallas finally won some games in December against good teams. Pat on the back. Good for them. But, this is the playoffs, son, and nobody is impressed by a couple of wins over teams that already clinched. Let's see what 'Big D' can muster in a do-or-die situation. I'm the type that has to see it to believe it. I say they crumble as per usual. I maintain this team has no heart. Your over analyzed paper matchups don't do anything for me. It's the NFL playoffs. Everybody has talent. It's going to come down to who wants it more, and Dallas doesn't have that killer instinct. I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat Philly, but anything above and beyond that would surprise me.

Fitzgerald was the "one receiver" I was referring to since Bolden is hurt. I didn't forget about Breaston but Sensabaugh will fuck his shit up. What I forgot to mention is that everyone will know that the Cardinals are passing on 95% of downs after the first quarter when their running game goes nowhere, making it easier to tee off on Warner. The Cardinals offense is much like the Eagles in this fashion, in that their running game blows and they try to make up for it by throwing the ball 50 times a game. Works sometimes in October, but not in the playoffs.

You're an Fuckin Moron. Their running game has been steadily improving, Boldin played after coming back early from facial reconstruction surgery and kicked ass-he'll be just fine if you ladies even make it that far, and you probably don't know who Doucet is.

But then, nobody knew who Breaston was before Q got hurt.

Dallas doesn't own the Packers jerkoff. A 17-7 asswhooping (the score doesn't reflect that) out front should have told you.

I disagree with MGO in the fact that I do believe this Cowboy team has heart, but I question the coaches leadership qualities. That is an important piece of the puzzle that I don't believe Wade has. He's a heck of a defensive coordinator, I will give him that, but there's something missing. I like Wade, and I hope he stays with the Boys as a DC, but I just don't think a one and done performance in the playoffs is going to please Mr Jones. I hope I'm wrong but we'll have to wait and see.

And Dio, you really think your team is going to beat Green Bay? Seriously? That one will not be close, and your boys will be sent home for good come Sunday.

You're dreaming. The only thing significant about last week's game was the injury to DRC, and it looks like he'll be good to go.

Although that and the Tennessee game should prove that it's time to shitcan Leinert and get a real backup. I'd rather see St. Pierre playing next year than Trojan Boy.

And BTW...

The Cardinals finished the season with a red-zone touchdown efficiency percentage of 70.4, the best in the NFL, after the scored 38 touchdowns in 54 trips inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. The Colts, at 66 percent, were second.

Quarterback Kurt Warner’s 98.9 passing rating in the playoffs is second in NFL history behind the Packers’ Bart Starr (104.8).

The Cardinals were the only team in the NFL not to have back-to-back losses this season.

And Dio, you really think your team is going to beat Green Bay? Seriously? That one will not be close, and your boys will be sent home for good come Sunday.
What cracks me up is how big his head got after one lucky run in fifty seasons. Dio has some inflated idea of his team now being some perrenial badass playoff team. Take a step back and look at that little bright red bird on your helmet. That's a CARDINAL. You're the CARDINALS. And they can afford to be up and down all year because not only does that division suck goat testicles, but it's by far the softest in the NFL. If you were still in the NFC East, you'd be 4-12 every year. They aren't playoff-ready. Sure, I can see them beating Green Bay only because it's at home and because the Packers are just as scitzophrenic. And I can also see then beating the Saints because the Saints are average and can't stop anyone. But when they meet America's Team, in the Palace, a team that plays in a physical division and has the best defense in the National Football League, it's going to be bloodshed.

Then you'll remember that you're the Cardinals.

Hopefully.

Save it DF....I was merely stating a fact.

Besides, I think the Jets are gonna get whacked by the Bengals. Too one-dimensional of an offense, and the Sanchise isn't ready to put that team on his shoulders yet.

Statisically yeah, but by the end of tomorrow you're looking at the Cowboys as the best defense in the NFL left in the playoffs.

It's going to be a HOOT to see the Eagles get beat in Dallas TWICE within a span of SIX DAYS.
Can you imagine the meltage that will ensue and the pissed off inbreds waiting back in Philadelphia for these choking goons?

has that even ever happened before where a team gets punked twice, back to back weeks in the same stadium? And insult to injury will be getting beat three times all year by Dallas.

Enjoy it Eagles fans :hfal:

Heck of a win by the Cowboys. Back to back weeks of complete domination in all three phases of the game against the same division opponent is tough. Rack Romo for staying composed after that nearly costly interception. I have seen more times than I can remember where a near miss of his turns into interception free for all.

The defense is just tits right now. They are all over the ball and its apparent they all know their assignments and are playing at a high level. They will need to continue that if they want some success up in Minnesota.

And rack Dio and your Cards for their performance. I knew the Packers would ass rape your defense, but I never thought your offense would own the bigger dildo.
