What is a liberal progessive?

What does this mean? What do they believe differently than say a "liberal" or a democrat?

I always thought "progressive" was the new code word liberals used to try to reform their image, since referring to yourself as a liberal usually results in varying displays of revulsion by those in proximity.

People calling themselves "progressive liberals" kind of defeats the original purose of the term "progressive," which I always saw as an attempt to cover up the fact that you are a pussy liberal and also a dig on conservatism by implying conservatives are stuck in the past.

'Liberal' is what progressives/radicals/socialists have been calling themselves since the mid-seventies, even though they represent the opposite of Liberalism. Something to do with constantly losing at the polls.

It's kind of like calling someone a 'pro-choice' Roe v. Wade supporter. In the current political climate, it's a distinction without a difference, but in reality they are polar opposites.

Well he did call us liberal progressives "elite" and also implied that our knowledge was all encompassing. However, I did detect some sarcasm in the tone of his post. So I came to the conclusion that in his disturbed reality, smart and elite are somehow pejorative terms and responded in kind. Hope that helps.
