Who?

Nice panic hire.

Ya, seemed pretty underwhelming to me. There are more accomplished coaches out there that would've taken the job, if his name is Lipshitz does he still hired?

Dooley was under .500 at a non-BCS school. So that means that mvscal will be along anytime now to tell us what a shitty hire Tennessee made, right?

Oh, wait, my bad. Dooley is white.

Where is that sniviling cunt, mvscal? Oh, right, football season is over. Time for him to dust of the "Rock chalk, Jayhawk" sig and head over to the basketball forum.

Oh god damn, FUCK. I guess now you're going to ask why they didn't hire your fucking wife? C'mon, man. Give me a break. If you want it all equal, let's make 50% of the players white. You willing to do that?
Dude, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you missed this. That was my entire frame of reference with the above post. mvscal claimed that Gill didn't warrant moving up to the BCS ranks because his record at Buffalo was 20-30.

Dooley, meanwhile, was 17-20 at Louisiana Tech. Considering what he inherited there and what Gill inherited at Buffalo, he might have done an even worse job than Gill. Certainly, if Gill doesn't deserve a job at the BCS level, then neither does Dooley, not to mention that Tennessee is a more prestigious job than Kansas. But since Dooley is white, you'll hear nothing but crickets from mvscal when it comes to criticizing this hire.

On the bright side, at least it was Tennessee who hired Dooley and not Georgia. Had it been Georgia, this hire would have screamed nepotism.

money, prestige, national recognition. seems there's quite a bit of "wiggle room" and rhetorical plasticity with meatgrinder fan. sometimes it's the ultimate prestige that draws a coach to BTPCF's version of heaven and fan solidarity; but here, it's fear of job security that keeps coaches away. lol. Sam, you are kind blowing yourself yoga-style here.

how consistently has ANYONE won 8-10 games at TCU, AFA, and Utah over the last 30 years? these are programs that haven't exactly been revenue machines with 100,000 fans on Saturday....in low population density areas (minus TCU in that regard--but, still, a private school with a small alumni base in a pro sports dense hotbed of interest for other programs--UT, OU, ATM, etc).

there's a lot of reasons. to suggest that it's fear seems a little homerish to me. all respects.

Patterson has said no to a lot of people. He's a Texas guy and there's certainly been speculation that he 1. just likes it at TCU and 2. is waiting for a shot at the ATM job. as regional pride as you SEC guys like to get, Texas peeps are just the same.

Calhoun is rumored to be on the short-list of (possible) replacements for Dan Hawkins and is also a former AFA QB. AFA's last coach, Fisher Deberry, certainly had the chance to "move up" after some very good late 80's teams but stayed at the Academy for 20 years. Calhoun played for Deberry. Maybe he wants to follow in his "mentor's" footsteps and coach the Zoomies longterm.

Kyle Winningham, don't know much about him. but Utah has won 2 BCS bowls in the last 6 years. what's Tennessee done?

there's also rumblings around here that the MWC is going to "do whatever it takes" to get a BCS bid. which probably means Boise coming to the conference....but, who knows? the idea of a BCS bid makes all 3 of those jobs elevate in stature.
