Gotta do taxes today so we can then do the FAFSA for the boy.

Firing up teh Turbotax right now. Should make for a great weekend.

i think i have everything i need and i use turbo tax too. for some reason i don't get motivated to do it until early april

I usually file the automatic extension sometime around April 14. Then I wait until the end of August, or whenever the latest possible date to file is.

Can't do that this year, though. Gotta get the FAFSA in on time, and that requires a tax return, because the kid is (hopefully) starting college this year. I don't even have all of my 1099s yet, so I have to estimate some for the FAFSA.

Used TurboTax last year for the first time. I'll never go back to pen and paper again. I'll probably run the numbers in a week just to see if I owe or not.

I'll wait till April. I get nailed for working and drawing SSI payments at the same time, ending up paying more on the SSI than if you are not employed. Isn't is nice that they tax you on your taxes ?
It's pretty straightforward except for the convoluted form for calculating the tax on your SSI payments. For years I was "H and R Dad" too. Gave that all up when I moved down here.
