This is not a toy, this is a message to the entire office so that everyone can see I can physically dominate them.

certainly better than anyone would have a right to expect. entertaining but has a tendency to be formulaic once the characters are established. still a UK loyalist, but the US has it's moments to be sure. does lack the subtlety of the Gervais/Merchant original in many ways. worth checking out.

Exactly. Couldn't get into the American version, and they rip some of the exact same scenes, though I agree it does have its moments.

You must have stumbled onto this show by accident, misreading it as “The Orifice”.

Similar boat here. Watched the pilot when it first aired and walked away. By year 3 it was getting enough hype and more time had passed since my viewing of the BBC version that I dove back in. Still took me a good 6-7 eps to move past the comparison stage but once I did the US version became a fave. To me there are two main differences. One is the US version has developed the secondary characters much more than the UK version did. Certainly some of that has to do with the amount of eps each has produced but it does help differentiate the two. The other is that the UK version had a lot of its humor rooted in uncomfortable-ness while the US version is more traditional.

So I'd say go for it, get past those first 6-7 eps and then you'll really enjoy the next several seasons before the drop-off that is taking place now.

in the UK comedy vein, i am still recommending Peep Show. 6 seasons now of 6 half-hour epis. it takes a while to hit the stride, but it is brilliant writing/dialogue disguised as dumbass nonsense.
