10,000 against about 2,000 is OK, but the city is laced with IEDS. They cut off all communications to families last weekend..my kid is likely involved in this operation.

As for Al Qaeda, these guys can set up in Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Egypt,...England. We're no longer even pretending to hunt Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

So...no, this Surge is strictly PR for the militarists. Pure bullshit and guaranteed to fail.

the son that was looking at the green jobs thing is out of the Corps..he did 4 and a tour in Iraq..I have 2 more in the Corps, one in Afghanistan and one at Quantico.

We never know when we will hear from him..they have a satellite phone that gets passed around between platoons, a week per platoon. They were supposed to have it for a week starting last Friday, and when they have it he was calling every day or every other day. One call last Friday and that was it. They have no internet or phone access unless they get back to Camp Leatherneck or a similar, more built up base.

I don't expect to hear from him any time soon. Mom has her faced glued to the TV news, in case she got a view of him.

I have pictures on some photo sharing websites, but along with pictures of my other kids, grand kids and family. No way in hell am I posting that info here, but thanks for the request.

Well for what it's worth Derron, just know that they are all in - most reasonable people's thoughts and prayers often.

Especially around here in NoVa there's a lot of current and former military and I can drive down the street and see yellow ribbons on homes, blue stars in windows, gold stars in windows, and all.

I have no right to be sitting at home, but that's where I'm supposed to be I guess. I look at my son, although only two years old, and I can't imagine.
