OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Olympia Mayor Pro Tem Joe Hyer has been arrested for investigation of marijuana trafficking.
Sheriff's detectives said Hyer, 37, was arrested on Thursday following a month-long undercover investigation by the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force.
A tip from a concerned citizen prompted the investigation, during which Hyer sold marijuana to a police informant on two separate occasions, investigators said.
Hyer was booked into the Thurston County Jail under investigation of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a residence for drug purposes. He posted bail on Thursday night and was released.
Hyer refused to comment on the allegations.
Earlier this week, Hyer took over the position of former county treasurer Robin Hunt, who is vacating her post before the end of her four-year term. Hyer's formal appointment as treasurer is scheduled for March 1.
Hyer, an Olympia native, was appointed to the Olympia City Council in 2004, and elected the following year. He has served as a board member, as well as the president of the Olympia Downtown Association, and is the co-owner of Alpine Experience, an outdoor equipment retailer in downtown Olympia.
He is also a graduate of Tumwater High School.
Hyer does not have a prior criminal record.

And in Gresham last night, ANOTHER homicide.
And in North Portland, 2 shootings as well.
Too much crime to link too, just coming to expect it every day.

Gresham Mayor: B-b-b-b-b-but... those shootings could have happened anywhere! Downtown Gresham is safe!Derron wrote:And in Gresham last night, ANOTHER homicide.
I wonder how he'll do in the next election, since he's just outted himself as never having been to Downtown Gresham after dark.
I suppose the could have happened anywhere -- but they just happened to have happened in the most crime-riddled shithole in the Metro Area... go figure.
Downtown Gresham/Rockwood does serve an important purpose, though -- Downtown St Johns can say "at least we don't live in Gresham."
Shit, I spend half my time in St Johns, occasionally walking down Fessenden at night. Don't bother me a bit (although there's some pretty unsavor characters coming out of the woods/woodwork late at night)... Gresham kinda scares me.
MAX has sure left a trail of crime wherever it's gone* -- like Clackamas needed any help. I hope Milwaukie enjoys what's coming in a couple of years.
At least the Beaverton Police have something to do these days besides pull people over for "driving while brown." Now, it's "hanging out at the train station while brown."
* -- Except, for some very odd reason, Interstate Ave. Was such a mess, having the train go through there actually increased property values, and ran off some riffraff -- kind of the opposite æffect it's had everywhere else.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think NoPo/St Johns is even on the board yet this calander year (I might have missed something, and they finished 2009 with a flurry). But as soon as the weather gets warm, they'll catch up on the scoreboard.

Rep. Alan Grayson will return to the United States Friday.
Washington (CNN) – Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, narrowly escaped harm earlier this week after being caught up in a military coup in the African country of Niger.
Grayson's press secretary, Todd Jurkowski, confirmed to CNN that Grayson was close to the action. "He heard the gunshots. They were literally in the building next door."
The outspoken congressman was in Niger as part of a congressional delegation focued on science, technology and humanitarian relief, according to Jurkowski. When the situation began to unravel, Grayson was taken to the residence of the United States Ambassador to Niger, where he was placed under armed protection.
On Thursday, Assistant U.S. Secretary of State P.J. Crowley told reporters the U.S. Embassy was monitoring the situation and confirmed Grayson was safe at the embassy. Later that night, a Niger military official announced the country's constitution has been suspended.
Grayson has since traveled to the neighboring country of Burkina Faso, and is scheduled to return to the United States Friday evening.

The minute any of these dudes are caught, they need to be sentenced to minimum 2 hours per day at the shooting range until they can get a kill shot in the body mass every time. Supply them ammo and what ever they need.
This wounding in the leg shit does nothing to help Darwin out. It only proves the whining liberals take of " Shoot them in the leg", and leaves the trash still on the street packing more than they can handle.
