Trev, I'll flat-out tell you - you can block Google Analytics entirely, if you want. Use firefox with the adblock extension, and you can find and block the javascript file that GA uses...no skin off of our backs.

When data is transmitted over the InterHorn, between A and B here's what happens. Your browser requests something, an image or a page, and in that request it sends the web server a number of things that go into the logs. There are about 20 fields of data - screen resolution, OS, browser, IP, etc. EVERY website you visit logs this stuff. A server administrator generally has a tool to interpret this data - quite apart from Google Analytics. GA makes an additional use of this user data - compiles it into their database and makes nice charts and diagrams of it. So, you can block GA, but you should know that you're broadcasting user data either way.

I installed GA here and basically forgot about it about a year and a half ago. I looked at it today for the first time in a long time...and there is some interesting data. None of it is really useful to an InfoWhore - but someone who is interested in data and web usage stats can be entertained with it.

I'll credit Cuddles on this one - it was certainly a little more interesting an attempt than his usual. Just when I think he can't possibly find another way to mouthbuttfuck himself, dude can be relied upon to break on through - and we all get to laugh at him all over again.
