The White House
What are they doing in the White House? I have never seen a more inept group of community planners and wanna be metrosexual politicians in my life. At least Clinton knew how to be a politician. I'm thinking about not watching the State of the Union address because frankly, I don't take pleasure in watching grotesque trainwrecks. I actually want my country to do well despite who is in the White House.
Re: The White House
Barry is a fraud and his ideology is seriously warped.
On top of that he is WOEFULLY unqualified to hold the position he holds.
The fact that his presidency is cratering comes as no surprise.
The Starbucks, daddy pays my grad school tuition, live-at-home-'til-age-35 crowd is surprised, but they're clueless and pathetic dipshits.
America made a horrible hire.
Duh.

Re: The White House
I read that Barry is in favor of assembling a "Deficit Task Force" to study and make recommendations on how to curb the huge budget deficit.
This after HE sent deficit spending into hyperdrive.
He says he's a constitutional law professor.
And yet he's still somehow too ignorant to understand that if the fed gov simply followed the constitution we wouldn't HAVE a deficit -- or very much of one, at least.
Shove your 4th grade "task force" idea up your @ss and cut unauthorized spending, you lying sack of horseshit.

I didn't vote for Barry.
And even if I had voted for McCain it wouldn't have mattered, as he carried Tejas without my vote.

Re: The White House
We all saw how Ron Paul was marginalized by the Repugnicant party during the '08 campaign.
This despite, as he often pointed out, the reality that he was THE most conservative candidate running.
His fiscal views will have traction within the party in '12 -- to some extent -- but his foreign policy views will still be a minority view within the party, imo.
The repugnicants still can't look in the mirror and come to terms with the truth that a military operating all over the globe is a HUGE expansion of the federal government.
That ain't conservative.

If by 'marginalized', you mean ignored as the irrelevant nutjob he is.poptart wrote:We all saw how Ron Paul was marginalized by the Repugnicant party during the '08 campaign.
Then yes. The other party is the one where you get more traction the more of a whacko you are.

Well if it makes you feel any better, private auxiliaries are matching troop levels at close to fifty percent in some theatres - but not included in official statistics. If anything, the role of government is diminishing in terms of execution in American forays.poptart wrote: The repugnicants still can't look in the mirror and come to terms with the truth that a military operating all over the globe is a HUGE expansion of the federal government.

The "fiscal responsibility" mantra that much of the republican party is now sounding is something that Ron Paul has been talking about for a couple of decades.Dio wrote:Ron Paul is an irrelevant nutjob

He's WELL ahead of the game.
And it won't be that long 'til the republicans are brought to their knees and are forced to face the reality that the U.S. foreign policy can't continue.
We're broke.
Again, he's well ahead of the game.
What makes him a nutjob?
His near perfect record of voting in accordance with the U.S. Constitution?
His 52 yr, scandal-free, marriage to the same woman?
The fact that his district has elected him to congress 10 times?
You're really lost, guy, sorry.

Re: The White House
A) Losertarian candidate who calls Ronald Reagan a 'failure'.
B) Favors economic isolationism and foreign policy appeasement.
c) Favors ignoring the Constitution where it fits his ideology (denying citizenship to children born in this country).
D) Favors things such as abolishing the federal reserve which sound nice but are impractical and undoable.
E) The only part of his platform that is actually sensible is on taxation and spending issues. And there are plenty of sane members of the GOP who espouse the same positions. Without his baggage.

A) You, like other simpletons who are fascinated by the (R) next to a chap's name, can hop into the coffin and hoover the corpse if you want to. Myself, I deal in reality. The fed gov EXPANDED under "conservative" Reagan. The national debt soared and he did nothing serious to cut entitlements. Hell, Slick Willie did a MUCH better job handling the budget than RR did. I give Reagan credit for some positives in his presidency, but overall, it wasn't a great success for conservativism.Diogenes wrote:A) Losertarian candidate who calls Ronald Reagan a 'failure'.

B) Not true.
C) Favors the Constitution almost universally. Seriously, get your bullshit out of my kitchen. There was no candidate running in '08 that had a record as "clean" as Ron Paul's as far as voting in accordance with what the Constitution dictates.
D) Paul would be the first to tell you, if you listen, that as president, he couldn't get but just a portion of his agenda into practice. But at least the taxpayers would have ONE branch of their government pulling HARD in their direction. Given our current political climate, and the continual slaps to the face we citizens take, why anyone would oppose this is beyond me.
E) Paul's baggage?? You're making shit up. He has no baggage.
Re: The White House
Sure he does. His foreign policy is we'll mind our business, you mind yours.
It's a pipe dream, because "our business" has been entangled with "their" business for a long time ... centuries.

Re: The White House
Ron Paul won (handily) the straw poll at the recent CPAC Conference, traditionally identifying the "frontrunner" for party's next prez nominee.
The GOP predictably went right into smear and minimalize mode.
Of course the BIG problem the big money players behind the scenes, who dictate what direction the repugnicant party tries to go, has with Paul is his foreign policy.
They've honestly got problems with his "end the fed" direction - and his overall fiscal policy, but those things can be worked through.
But his foreign policy?
No deal.
Far too much money, and future, is at stake to walk away from U.S. military adventures around the globe ... even though we are essentially BANKRUPT.
We're a large country surrounded by two HUGE oceans.
No country is any sort of military threat to us, from a conventional point of view.
And we're pissin' our drawers over Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan??
It's beyond ludicrous.
The Constitution calls for a strong national DEFENSE.
Ron Paul has the correct foreign policy and there ARE folks that are coming around to understand it.
Defend our land, close the borders, mind our business, trade openly with others, and get on with the desperately needed business of getting our OWN house in order here.
The GOP will continue to hack away at him and anyone onboard with his view, which IS Constitutional.
I don't think he'll sniff the white house, and he may be too old, anyway, but if he by somehow DID win the general election, he would die either mysteriously or by assassination, imo.
At any rate, GO Ron Paul!

No, it doesn't. Actually, it's pretty much the kiss of death. Romney has won the last three and George Allen won in 2005 & 2006.poptart wrote:Ron Paul won (handily) the straw poll at the recent CPAC Conference, traditionally identifying the "frontrunner" for party's next prez nominee.

I didn't say the CPAC straw poll winner identifies the next nominee of the republican party, I said it traditionally identifies the frontrunner.
Much of Paul's platform HAS gained traction within the party, especially his positions on fiscal matters.
Yes, Rand Paul is worth keeping an eye on.
