We all know how annoying it is to register at a forum just to view the contents in it.

You can look at the contents in forums if you act as a Google bot.
This can be easily achieved.

Firstly install this to your firefox.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59

Restart firefox.

Then go to tools Default User Agent->User Agent Switcher->Options->New

Add this to Description:
crawl-66-249-66-1.googlebot.com

Then this to User Agent:
Googlebot/2.1 (+Verifying Googlebot - Webmasters/Site owners Help)

Remove the rest of the field to blank,then press ok,
Go to tools again and select crawl-66-249-66-1.googlebot.com

Now if you go to a forum that you are not registered at you should be google bot.

You need not register to view the forum now

Not necessarily true. phpbb treats bots like users, so you can set permissions for them. If you want to prevent web crawlers from accessing certain forums, you set permissions accordingly.
