at UTEP. interesting i guess (to me) for a couple reasons: 1. Floyd has proven to be a pretty coach but taking the Bulls job is and was mysterious in addition to being a colossal failure. and now he's a cheater, too. 2. UTEP had become a kind of Tulsa in the 90's as a stepping stone job for some pretty good coaches--Gillespie, Doc Sadler (who people swear up and down is a very good coach but not done much at Nebraska), now Tony Barbee to Auburn. They've gone completely the other way to retread. 3. However, Floyd has some history with Don Haskins so there's that. UTEP has had some better than average coaches come through there--Norm Ellenberger (cheater, who the FBI investigated) and Moe Iba (an Iba, but another so-so career at Nebraska).
UTEP had today's darling Butler on the ropes in the first round but forgot to show up in the 2nd half.
Butler has also been a feeder school for coaches as well with Barry Collier (another so-so Nebraska coache...there's got to be a Danny Nee connection here, somehow. heh.), Matta, and the oneboard's fave Lickliter.

Tim Floyd back in the game
""On a lonely planet spinning its way toward damnation amid the fear and despair of a broken human race, who is left to fight for all that is good and pure and gets you smashed for under a fiver? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar!"

Steve Lavin to the Johnnies should also get a mention. The NY market seems right up his alley. He did good work covering the Big Ten. He knew what was up with Draymond Green way before all the other ESPN dolts started latching onto his nuts.

All you need to know about why it's tough to coach at St. John's you can read right here.

Regarding Floyd, Royce Waltman said it best: "Young coaches, you play by the rules and lose, you'll never get hired again. You cheat? You'll get another chance."

Given his obvious fascination with balls, I am guessing he takes a dip in a hot tub with other dudes**... face down... to ease the pain.
**Or 'chicks' with balls.
