Proposed trade open now

Post by Prototype »

My opinion only but here it is front and center.

I voted against it. I think it is a bullshit trade. Rolen, Sosa, and Isringhausen are all off to slow starts but I am looking at this historically. Rolen is going to finish the year in the top 25 offensively. Sosa, who knows, might be top ten, might not be top 100, Isring will be among the top five RP's.

Blaylock will be right there with the stats, he can bring it. Anderson: I don't know, it's not 2003, if he's healthy it could happen. To me the definate deal breaker is Bautista for Isring. The guy had one great start. Hell, as a Royals fan, I am hopeful but I am not ready to start sucking the guys dick yet. He could be the next Mark Prior circa 2003, we'll see.

Rolen for Blaylock - sure I guess, I wouldn't do it but it's not a stretch. Sosa for Anderson - no problem. I hope against but would not be surprised if we have already seen Bautista's best start of the season.

Another league, another rookie owner gets fleeced. While Scott didn't necessarily do anything wrong (and certainly anything unexpected), at some point there has to be a line.

I'm all for letting Wags take his lumps on the learning curve; however, when one owner's whiff upsets the entire apple cart, the market sometimes needs to make a correction. I would nix (no pun intended) such a trade in football, but our league here calls for owner's review prior to passing any trade through.

Bautista/Izzy is the crux of the deal here and is lopsided to the point of ridicule. Sure ... Bautista can go on to a Cy Young season and prove me wrong here. Sure ... Izzy could pull a Jeff Kent and fall off the top of the Arch tomorrow.

That said ... if you had to bet even money on the success of one or the other, which horse are you going to back?

Rolen/Sosa for Blalock/Anderson isn't a trade I'd make, but it also doesn't a second glance. I think it also sways in Scott's favor, but I don't think it has bearing on the two pitchers. If it gave Wags an advantage to counter, that would be one thing; however, I don't see it.

Just as the league doesn't allow marquee players to be dropped into the waiver pool, I think the league should make sure trades of marquee closers don't pass for pitchers with but one start under their belts.

I voted against this trade, as well.

Damn, it's a free league... if Wags wants to root for a team full of homers, it's his perrogative.

Hells bells, what a bunch of busybodies.

Take a look at my relief corp. I've already got F-Rod (whom Scott initially tried to swindle) and Gagne (on the DL now, but not for long hopefully)

I can spare a closer, and simply put, love Bautista's upside. I need another reliable SP.

'sides that, I dig Blalock and Anderson, despise Sosa's act, and wouldn't piss on a Tardinal if he were on fire.

Bottom line...butt the fuck out of mine and Scott's business you hand wringing, no life having, bottom feeding scum sucking girlie men.

<----read the Title again, Mother Fu...errr, Superior.

I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, and I know more about baseball than I do futball.

$50 says I finish ahead of you in this league, mensa.

If you'll quit meddling in matters of mine that don't concern you, that is.

Short of that, take this league and shove it.

My initial thought about the trade was to vote against it, but then I realized that it won't effect much of anything because we aren't playing for money. Trade away boys

If you're trading away Isringhausen for Bautista, then that tells me all I need to know about your baseball knowledge, Meltdown Wagon.

I stated why I voted against the trade, just as the others in this league are doing. That's why trades are open to league vote, not commish veto.

As far as meddling in your matters, I'm sure you'll understand when I kindly reject your advice. You're fondness for dropping trough and giving Scotty a free run at your nether region (without so much as a courtesy reacharound) makes this trade of particular interest to your league mates.

As far as the money is concerned here, it's a free league ... yes, but it's still the usual suspects year-in and year-out. Is that supposed to dull the competitive spirit?

Sheesh ... looks like this league might have some life after all.

I like it.

Run the gauntlet, Wags, s'all I'm saying. If your trade goes through, then justice has been served here; however, I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest finding a more suitable endeavor for your fifty-spot than my race fund.

I'm just here to help you see the light, Brother Wagon, as you attempt to showcase your vast baseball knowledge ... in vain, I might add.

By focusing on this bad trade, alone, I took the high road in stating my case ... believe me.

You've already given myself and anyone else in this league more than enough ammo to shoot that Paul-like claim to pieces.

Shall we continue this dance of ours?

For my part, I made an offer and Wags countered.

I accepted.

It's not like we are playing for $$$

If we were, I'd have actually taken the time to Rank the players headed into the Pic Bot 2005.

I'm only in this quagmire at Orc's insistance that the without the reigning (and 3 time former) champion this league would have No legitimacy whatsoever.

Do what you will, but when Bautista wins 12, with 160 Ks and an ERA around 3.00 Wags will seek his pound of flesh from those that kept him down.

The Cream, as always, will rise to the top.

you guys are whinning too much. I saw no problem with the trade, just fleecing Wags on the Bautista for Izzy part. I actually had to laugh because Scott had just recently picked Bautista off the ww.

I'm not trying to showcase anything. I'm taking a calculated risk that I think will pay off, if a certain bunch of cock-blockers will step out the way.

What? Are all trades supposed to be perfectly equitable and not entail any risk for either party before they pass the smell test of the enlightened members of this august league?
By focusing on this bad trade, alone, I took the high road in stating my case ... believe me.
So take whatever freeking road you choose... just stay the fuck oot of my way while you're on that trip.
You've already given myself and anyone else in this league more than enough ammo to shoot that Paul-like claim to pieces.
Whatever. You keep saying that to yourself whilst I inevitably scoot past you in the standings.
Shall we continue this dance of ours?
Sure. It's a long damn season, and I need to vent my anger at life in general in some fashion.

Is it just me or does this arguement or one similiar to it happen at least once every season in all baseball/football fantasy leagues?

With Scott in the league it occurs several times a year :D .

The next step is to piss someone off so bad that they meltdown and we run them from the league, but that doesn't start until early June or so.

Yikes ... that certainly sucked.

At least Moyer doesn't have it all together today, either. Could be a battle of the pens in pretty short order.
