MADISON, Wis. -- The owner of a home in foreclosure on Madison's West Side that is being occupied by squatters has filed a trespassing complaint.
The trespassing complaint allows law enforcement officials to get involved.
Madison police will meet Wednesday morning to figure out what to do about a mother and her two children who have moved into the home without the owner's permission.
Squatting is a new issue for Madison, police said, and they are trying to determine exactly how to proceed, WISC-TV reported.
For the past two weeks, Desiree Wilson and her children have been living in a home on Tempe Drive. The local group Operation Welcome Home announced Monday that it helped the family move in without the owner's permission.
They entered through a broken door and changed the locks, according to the group. Operation Welcome Home has launched an effort to encourage homeless people to move into homes going through the foreclosure process.
"What we're saying is that instead of the banks getting these houses, they should be given back to the community," said Z! Haukeness, of Operation Welcome Home.
"It's not against the law -- this is above the law. It's so much bigger than me. Housing is a human right, and we feel that everybody should be entitled to that," Wilson said.

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.

ALL of Wisconsin is God’s Country. Madison has gotten a little trashed up lately due to a steady migration from Chicago. Madison has never been short on whackjobs like Z!.

Part of my work involves taking care of "vacant" forclosed houses.
And if they aren't in a high-dollar neighborhood, they've got squatters. It's the norm. Sometimes end up using deck screws (<--- don't say I never did anything for you dorks) to seal up every door in the place besides the front door. Taken out toolsheds to keep the squatters out.
Only instead of being inspired by Operation Welcome Home, 'round these parts, the organization that fuels the "occupants" are the drug cartels.
Dude, I know you like to think Madison is some great bastion of... something, but if you think the homeless organizing and creating these informal "unions" to try and get over is either new or unique, then you're even more delusional than you've appeared in the past.

Miami-Max Rameau Rameau's organization, Take Back the Land.
Minnesota- (yes I know it's not a city) Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign.
Only in Madison....do the Iowa Hawkeyes get to kick the shit out of the overgrown muskrats and then enjoy some fine Wisconsin cuisine of brauts and beer. Thanks, Madison. :)
