EARTHQUAKE!!!

Post by BSmack »

OK, so it was really just 30-40 seconds of watching my monitors shake on my desktop. But God damn it was a fucking EARTHQUAKE. I've always wanted to feel a little tremor. Just to say

More likely it was one of Otis' Internet flames.

5.5 is definitely enough to feel.

Looking at the USGS site, looks like Trampis had a 4.2 this morning... which you really have to be paying attention to feel much.

Epicenter up near Ottawa Canada. My younger daughter in Buffalo felt it and called MrsO. MrsO's sister who lives about 60 miles south of Ottawa said she heard a loud noise and then the house shook. I guess 5.5 is child's play to SoCals.

We had a 5.8 last week. I thought I was feeling hunger pangs.

Here's the entire fault. you can see why a quake near Ottawa would affect Buffalo, etc.

Nah, once you get out of the 3's it's a pretty decent-sized quake.

So far in my life, we've yet to have a big one here (although the geologists keep saying it's coming, and apparently, the Cascadia Subduction Zone produces massive quakes). Had a couple of near-big (the Seattle one in 01 was pretty deece, but 150 miles away... I was hungover and posting on SC3 when it hit).

But my theory, based on little -- screw the numbers, if you felt shit move and it made noise, it was a real quake.
