Will Social Security be there for you?

Will Social Security be there for you?
For the first time ever 60 percent of American workers don't think they will get any Social Security when they retire.
A USA Today/Gallup Poll shows six in 10 Americans who haven't retired yet say there will be nothing for them when they stop working.
That's the most pessimistic outlook since the question was first asked more than 20 years ago.
Younger Americans are least likely to believe they'll one day get Social Security, while those older than 55 are confident they will get benefits.
A majority of retired Americans think their benefits will be cut. Which is especially troubling when you consider that 54 percent of retirees say Social Security is their major source of income - more than any other single source.
Our government has yet another crisis on its hands, one that's been coming down the tracks in plain sight for years - yet it's not being dealt with.
Already this year Social Security will pay out more in benefits than it collects in contributions. Plus there's the whole issue of the "trust fund"... which is filled with nothing more than IOUs.
Social Security monies that are collected are siphoned off into the general treasury and spent on other things.
With a high unemployment rate, people retiring earlier than expected… and more and more baby boomers getting ready to retire, something's gotta give.
Is anybody listening?

If they just gave me what I put in, I wouldn't complain.

Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
Since you the sheeple are not smart enough to manage your own money and save in order to take care of yourself, WE, the ever loving government will hold *wink* *wink* your money for you and give it back to you when you retire.
The government should get as little as possible of citizen money because it just simply can not be trusted with it.
And there you have it.Social Security monies that are collected are siphoned off into the general treasury and spent on other things.

Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
I'm pretty sure 100% of citizens didn't think they would get Social Security payments before Social Security, so that blows your whole "first time ever" horseshit out of the water.
Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
^^^ yep. I remember hearing about if all the average working man's SS and FICA payments were put into an IRA instead, they would all retire millionaires. Any truth to that? The Seer wrote:If they just gave me what I put in, I wouldn't complain.
Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
Rest assured, your automatic SS payments have served to finance the good life for some very decitful scum.
As did the bailouts, the "stimulus," etc.
Deceitful scum livin' it up at our expense.
Feel all warm and fuzzy?
Some American are finally catching on to it.
But then again, they're probably racist.

Racist ?
With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.
Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
"Social security" is just another tax on workers. The system has become one big welfare scheme or scam if you will. Had all the money I had taken out of my paychecks over all those years been put into some sort of untouchable interest earning account, I would have had a lot more money than what showed up as my "contributions". It is sad that all too many people really believe that the government is putting their money aside for their retirement.
I suggested in another thread that you visit your nearest Social Security Administration Office and see who is there. Then tell me I am wrong about SSI.

Im almost 40 now, I expect the retirement age to be about 75 by the time i retire and Ill be in about the same state as socals dog at that point,...so no I dontthink Ill get any of my ss.
What we need to do is start electing rogue canidates, tea party types, people that have never run for office to be our representatives to government. Here in Washington we have a canidate for US senate running against the dem incumbant, Patty Murry, Clint Didier. Clint has no government experience, just 20 or so years running a farm after a succesful pro football career. But...it appears westsider Dino Rossi, whos run 2 unsuccesful campaigns for govorner will get the nod to run against Patty in November. Rossi, another serial insider who will get the nod from the higher ups in the republican party. Or Didier, a common sense guy with no government experience but plenty of experience running a farm.

Since I live in Oregon, it don't matter ..but driving back down from Seattle yesterday afternoon late, this guy had people hanging off every overpass from Centralia to Vancouver. I wondered who he was and what he was running for, but at least dude can get the grass roots people out and try and get rid of some of the tax and spend liberals like Murray...Trampis wrote:Im almost 40 now, I expect the retirement age to be about 75 by the time i retire and Ill be in about the same state as socals dog at that point,...so no I dontthink Ill get any of my ss.

Social Security is a plague, but you'll dislocate your arms reaching for your wallets to pay for the F-22.
Makes perfect sense.

Re: Will Social Security be there for you?
Uhh, the F-22 orders have been re-placed for the F-35, which is much more capable of flying to Canada and sending you a "love letter".
Kinda funny you say that, moosebreath; when I was working at Tyndall AFB, Canada had a bunch of guys learning the F-22...
