Ideas?

Re: Ideas?
Don't worry about it. Basil is a pretty delicate herb that can be easily overwhelmed with all the other spices and peppers that go into chili.

Re: Ideas?
a nice marinara sauce would work.
fukk triglycerides. gotta die from sumptin'. besides, you could make a big batch and split it up into freezer bags and throw them into the freezer. that way you can jack up your blood chemistry slowly.

Re: Ideas?
you could make something like chicken cacciatore with it. this is normally had with pasta, but, doesn't have to be.

Re: Ideas?
How about some tomato and basil soup?
That should be pretty easy. Chop up the tomatoes and heat the whole thing with the juices, and serve with saltines.
Or, if you like whole tomatoes in your soup just heat it up in the can.

Might want to add a little EVOO and minced garlic.Mikey wrote:How about some tomato and basil soup?

Yeah, but I figured Todd was looking for something really easy.mvscal wrote:Might want to add a little EVOO and minced garlic.Mikey wrote:How about some tomato and basil soup?

You could also add a few other veggies and some fagioli, and call it minestrone.
Re: Ideas?
You should look into Barilla Plus pasta.Toddowen wrote:Something without pasta would be preferable, as I'm supposed to limit my intake of that due to high tryglycerides.

It's a high protein, multigrain pasta enriched with Omega 3s. More to the point, it tastes good. Has a nice, nutty flavor.

Why do you need sugar?
Re: Ideas?
Sounds like a nice economical dinner, plus you can prolly use leftovers for days.
I'll prolly be making osso bucco this weekend. Been trying to use up the frozen meat in my freezer and there's four large hunks of veal shank in there that I bought on sale. One of my favorite Eyetalian dishes. Takes a while to prepare, but it's worth every minute.

Re: Ideas?
a little bit of sugar does help greatly. not enough to make it sweet, just enough to take the edge off the tomatoes.
ever have sliced home grown tomatos with a bit of sugar sprinkled on them? awesome.

Re: Ideas?
Yeah, I put sugar in my tomato sauce as well, but I also use a lot of tomato paste.
