Back in '06 I voted for George Allen over this guy, but rack the fukk out of Webb for speaking the complete truth. Any political aspirations he had such as running for President were squashed with this since the truth makes people squirm.

In an odd historical twist that all Americans see but few can understand, many programs allow recently arrived immigrants to move ahead of similarly situated whites whose families have been in the country for generations. These programs have damaged racial harmony. And the more they have grown, the less they have actually helped African-Americans, the intended beneficiaries of affirmative action as it was originally conceived.

At the height of slavery, in 1860, less than 5% of whites in the South owned slaves. The eminent black historian John Hope Franklin wrote that "fully three-fourths of the white people in the South had neither slaves nor an immediate economic interest in the maintenance of slavery."


Policy makers ignored such disparities within America's white cultures when, in advancing minority diversity programs, they treated whites as a fungible monolith. Also lost on these policy makers were the differences in economic and educational attainment among nonwhite cultures. Thus nonwhite groups received special consideration in a wide variety of areas including business startups, academic admissions, job promotions and lucrative government contracts

Webb is spot on. One of the unintended consequences of affirmative action was to see preferences go to recent emigres from Africa and the Caribbean whose family history had never been victims of slavery let alone Jim Crow segregation. It's NOT going to fuck him out of rising up in the ranks. Bill Clinton hotfooted it back to Arkansas during the 1992 election just to sign a death warrant for a retarded black man, he signed legislation that kicked thousands of black folks off welfare and he race baited Sista Souljah in a way that would have made David Duke give him a fist pump. And the NAACP still loves him and Toni Morrison went on to declare him our "first black President." Hell, the Clintons are so popular with black folk that there was talk in the 2008 primaries as to whether or not Barack Obama was black enough to win black votes against Hillary.

Nope, Jim Webb will not be fuck out of "rising up further in the ranks." He is a Senator from a swing state, one the Democrats have been trying to flip since the 80s. There is no way in hell the Senate Democrats are going to fuck with Jim Webb for playing to his constituents.

Big fan of Webb over here. "Fields of Fire" was the first book about Vietnam I had read, got it for my birthday when I was 14. He's, at heart, more conservative than many Republicans and switched teams.

He hasn't done a damn thing, for real, since. He went in on the promise of bringing the boys back home, he voted for the big giveaways, and sends his constituents patronizing form letters. In content the letter is impeccable, spot on, and a transition most of US knew would take place (we've been discussing these matters on these boards for a long time).

The fact Webb wrote it, just appears to me he was chosen to write it by the powers that be and he hopes this superficial display of "Hey look boyz, I do have some balls" will work in his favor. We'll see.

The problem on the hill is that it is a rotten barrell. Until we get a new barrell - every nice shiny new apple we throw in it will spoil and spoil quickly.

RE-fucking-SET the whole god damn place in the next upcoming elections and make sure we vote folks in that will vote YES on term limits.
