I love that little town.

Everyone pretty much accepts anyone, and we can walk freely there at night and NOT have to worry about getting mugged/raped.

Bellissimo!
My younger sister lived in Hillcrest in the 90's. One night while walkng back to the house after a beer run, several dudes on a balcony at a party started whistling catcalls at us. I assumed it was college dudes whistling at my 18 y/o sister, and to be a goofball said "that was for me".

She replied, "Asshole, we're in Hillcrest...that WAS for you."

I feel so dirty.

Wouldn't an "openly heterosexual" judge have the same conflict of interest?

There's the problem right there. Way too many conflicts of interest.

Female circumcision and castration of all men and women seeking office as legislator AND/OR jurist.

Traditional marriage produces more taxpaying worker bees and, as the most basic building block of society, the traditional family contributes of social stability. If that isn't a "legitimate state interest," then there isn't one.

The state has a long and very well documented history of incentivizing behavior it wishes to encourage through legislation establishing rebates, subsidies and tax credits etc.

I see no compelling state interest in granting amnesty to any class of criminal let alone a class which has done tremendous damage to the standard of living in this pathetic cuntry of ours.

You should find a federal judge to declare that illegal aliens are entitled to citizenship and a job with health care benefits and a kick ass retirement plan because they are nice people and dad-gummit the Due Process and Equal whateverthefuck it is called Clauses or something overwhelmingly compel it. Most illegals that do work make minimum wage, or less if they're lettuce pickers. Last I checked, the $12k/year crowd doesn't pay shit in income taxes.

When Prince William County, VA decided to scare away hispanics (legals and the illegals they charged out the ass to live with them, sometimes 20 per 4 bedroom home) they moved. It exacerbated the already fucked housing market AND took a lot of local revenue away.

My house value went down, property taxes went up. Ironically, to train the police in the proper methods of scaring illegals away and to pay for gas of the stepped up patrols.

He's referring to an ideal. You're primary bone of contention is the method by which that ideal was achieved in one state.

Apples and oranges. I can have no problem with the notion of a Civil Union for faggots while at the same time support the ability for states and communities to define what they mean by "marriage" without the Fed sending in the troops.

C'mon, you can do better. The vast majority of hispanic illegals send the bulk of their money untaxed to their families in their home countries. It's well-documented (and in the billions) and one of the reasons they live 20 to a 4 BR house.

The majority of their purchases are food, which of course is untaxed. What little sales taxes they do pay go to the city and county they live in, yet the freebies they live off of are largely provided by the state or federal gov't. One of the many reasons CA's budget is so fucked is that all of the free services we give to our 2 million illegals are provided at a loss.

Personally I have no problem with letting CA illegals that don't have a criminal record and have a valued work skill set (even ag work) become citizens, provided they learn English and stop rooting for the Dodgers.

Of course, but this is California. Unless it's a ritzy neighborhood, there has to be something seriously eggregious going on, like selling drugs out of the house, in order for them to go in and check for over-occupancy. Otherwise you get all of the advocacy groups screaming that they're only targeting hispanic neighborhoods, and they're profiling, etc, etc, et-fucking-cetera.

The handringers run this state. You know that.

Even if I weren't a lawyer, I'd be more inclined to take the word of a law student than of a forklift operator when it comes to a discussion on the law. BtH was merely referring to the legal test that will apply to the analysis of whether Amendment 8 violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

And btw, there are three different tests applied, depending on the basis of a claimed Equal Protection violation. The "rational basis" test is the most deferential to state action.

You really are just a clueless chimpanzee aren't you?

1. It's not a "process" of judicial review, it's a test used in judicial review.
That is a process, dumbfuck. What part of the English language are you struggling to comprehend?
2. Really, you think that Congress doesn't try to ensure that their legislation will pass the appropriate constitutional standards if challenged?
Nope, they sure don't. All they do is slap up some severability boilerplate and roll on. They don't even bother reading any piece of substantive legislation let alone all of them. At best, the most conscientious of them might skim a few bullet points put together by their staff before they jet out to the next fundraiser or photo op.
Let me help you out, Gomer Pyle: every piece of substantive legislation passed will identify the grant of power which gives authority to pass the legislation, then will identify the reason for the legislation.

Oh yeah?

Here ya go, lil fella. Substantive enough for you?

http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf

http://www.washingtonwatch.com/blog/200 ... bill-text/

I see their purpose/intent for this legislation. The grant of power which gives Congress such sweeping authority is a little fuzzy, though. Well, good luck.

Actually, it's way too easy to be a failed lawyer before you even get started. Especially with you being the not so bright product of unimpressive school (there isn't a school in Alabama in the top 50).

http://www.lawschool100.com/

What? Did you think big law firms were going to be lined up after you graduate to hook you up with a hot shit six figure salary job?

You'll be lucky to make half of what Wags makes ten years after you leave school assuming that you're even working as a lawyer after ten years. The last thing anybody needs these days is another lawyer. I wouldn't be sneering at forklift operators and DeVry tech school grads if I were you. They'll be out-earning you for decades. How are your table waiting skills? You'll be needing a second job. Maybe SM can hook you up as an assistant jizz mopper.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/26/busin ... ims&st=cse
...the ABA's own stats show that there are 1.1 million people with JD's, but the federal govt has stats that show that only about 765K people reported income earned as a lawyer. Go find those 340K people and ask THEM about the odds of success in law school.

When you gamble on law school, you have at least a 30 percent chance of failure. And that is just looking at those who have gone to law school in the last 40 years. In recent years the profession has become so overcrowded that the odds of failure have gone up dramatically. And then you throw in the holocaust in legal hiring over the last year. And who knows when or if that will ever go back to normal. For the foreseeable future, the next 10 years or so, if you go to a 2nd tier school or lower, without having a relative who has a successful firm, unless you finish top 5 percent, your chances of failure as a lawyer are at least 50 percent.

How could I forget, Nixon's Southern Strategy, yadda yadda yadda.

So one election cycle over two centuries of fighting for liberty and you're ready to divide the nation across.

Race
Creed
Sex
Exonomic Class

Etc.. etc....

That I know too. Divide and Conquor for a seat in office and the trappings that come with it.
With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.

The party that stopped slavery, cautioned us about involvement in WWI, WWII, and whose son Ike cautioned us against the "Military Industrial Complex" and who championed the Civil Rights Movement. ?

You think THEY were stupid ?

Hindsight is 20.20. They look to be pretty smart now dude.

Certainly in recent history the Republican Party too has sold out to Asian and European bankers and been watered down.

Touche. You too.

Sorry, champ. The people of Alabama fully fund my legal education. Pretty sweet gig-when you're smart, you can get schools to pay you to go there. Maybe you hit the genetic lottery, your wife fucked some other guy, and you won't have to pay for your kids' college.
Lovely.

Now that you mention it, I did hit the genetic lottery and can assure you that my daughter is indeed my progeny. She loves all the same sports teams I do with an equal or even greater amount of passion. :swoon:

She just left home to attend grad school in New Mexico for a masters degree in sports management. Looks like a sweet gig.
You know, if we were discussing forklifts, I'd no doubt defer to your vast knowledge. In this area, you simply don't have the intellectual horsepower to keep up. You're laboring, it's obvious, and perhaps you should dedicate yourself to something more your speed. Ensuring you don't shit yourself seems about your level.
Ensuring that one doesn't shit themselves is a noble goal but at the end of the day I'll still have a drawer full of clean underwear that my hot as fuck wife washed and folded.
