One Beer
Just had lunch in the bar at Chili's. I had a tall Sam Adams with my chicken wings, fries, and celery.
Why in God's name does one beer nearly put you in a coma after consumption? I'm perfectly fine, but I am fucking tired as hell all of a sudden. It's perplexing.

Re: One Beer
Ever see that old SNL skit, I think it was a send off on "Miller Time" ads, where the factory workers had beer at lunch and then back at work they were having all kinds of bad accidents?
One summer Friday when I was working in a factory I went along with a bunch of guys for lunch to a fish fry joint across the street from the plant. I had a couple of beers with my fish sandwich. Not a good idea. I didn't get fired or anything, but had a hard time keeping on task for the rest of the day.

I had plans of making my afternoon productive on the homefront until Mrs. Rumps came home, but fuck that.
It's nap time and maybe a little NCAA on the xbox. Fuck you, beer.

Yep. I have a few friends who like to have a few during lunch on Fridays. I hate drinking during work. One at the MOST. MOST. Anything more than that your life is going to be miserable for the rest of the workday.Wolfman wrote:One summer Friday when I was working in a factory I went along with a bunch of guys for lunch to a fish fry joint across the street from the plant. Depends on your line of work I guess. One beer for me over lunch puts myself at risk. Then again, what I do takes a little more skill than lifting a mop and emptying a bucket of jizz-water.Screw_Michigan wrote:Yeah, putting yourself at risk for losing your job is always smart.DallasFanatic wrote:

Re: One Beer
With my job, you can't take any risk of drinking before or during work.
Ex-coworker (see what I did there?) of mine went out drinking the night before work. He couldn't eat or drink anything after 9pm because he and his shift had a physicals the next morning. He consumed a few beers, stopped at 9pm, rolled into bed, woke up and came in for his physical.
Dude forgot to brush his teeth and nurse smelled alcohol on him. They notify his shift leader who then tries to send him home before anyone finds out, but big boss man catches wind of it and sends dude off-site for a breathalyzer. First attempt he blows a .05. They wait 30 minutes and he goes again. Dude blows a .04. He's fired for cause.
Company policy clearly states your BAC can't be above .04 if you work at a chemical plant. That sucked, but there was nothing the company could do. He was a damn good operator, so they forced him to resign and suggested he take some rehab. This allows him the opportunity to hire back on after a couple of years if there is another opening.
Kinda sux, but why the fuck would you go out and consume alcohol the night before a physical. What an idiot.

It's not just the beer. You can get sleepy in the afternoon just from eating lunch. Many civilized countries realize this and allow for an afternoon nap.

Re: One Beer
Ever get that 2:30 groggy feeling? What do you do? Some coffee? A soda? And how long does that last before you're back for more? Try 5 Hour Energy.
I want to kill the 5 hour energy marketing manager. They did their job I guess. I will never forget that god damned commercial I hear 20 times a day on Sirius just before I change the channel. However, I'm the type who boycotts any product that is so overly marketed.

Thats what Ive found. If I really need a slight buzz and I want the taste of a beer, Ill leave about a 1/4 of the glass full if i want to get much else done with the rest of the day.Jsc810 wrote:I don't think you're supposed to stop drinking once you've started, that may be your problem.
Either you're going to drink or your not, none of this one beer horseshit.
