And the fact the first W will be at the Outhouse will make it that much sweeter.BlindRef wrote:Yeah...at some point Sparty was going to have to play an away game.
of all the stones to throw... michigan plays one ooc away game every two years. probably not going to change much going forward considering the stadium renovations that still need to be paid for.BlindRef wrote:Yeah...at some point Sparty was going to have to play an away game.
offensive coaches, maybe. your best defense will be to score 100 points, which could actually happen. michigan's also been good at preventing the big play, they just can't keep the other team from picking up first downs, which is the complete reverse of last year when they had a decent defense aside from the four big plays they'd give up every game. we're expecting the horrible defense and kicking to bite us in the ass eventually; hopefully it doesn't happen this week.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I'm confident the coaching staff will put together a game plan which will stop Shoelace just enough to eek out a W.

Who the fuck are these faggots in the background? Christ. ND games keep getting faggier and faggier every season, both between the hashmarks and on the sidelines.Killian wrote:
I don't really know what that will have to do with next Saturday, but I would add that MSU also had a worse defense last year, and almost no running game to speak of. They're currently one win away from tying their total from last year. Let's say both teams are improved, you guys have just done it primarily with one guy.WolverineSteve wrote:Let's not forget UM had a worse defense last year and coulda, shoulda, woulda, won the game in EL.
Honestly, you thought your defense was worse last year?WolverineSteve wrote:Let's not forget UM had a worse defense last year and coulda, shoulda, woulda, won the game in EL.
Oh yeah, they were historically bad.Killian wrote:Honestly, you thought your defense was worse last year?WolverineSteve wrote:Let's not forget UM had a worse defense last year and coulda, shoulda, woulda, won the game in EL.
This is an uninformed statement. There is depth in all phases of the offense now with another year in the system. Th o-line is gelling, where they were a young clueless unit for the first two years of the regime. Backs and wr's everywhere that can freaking fly.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote: Let's say both teams are improved, you guys have just done it primarily with one guy.
Mace wrote:I'll take MSU in this one simply because they have something Michigan doesn't have....a defense. MSU's best defense might also be ball control on offense and keeping Robinson off the field. I'm guessing that MSU will have Greg Jones spying on Shoelace and am anxious to see if Robinson will be able to get off the turf by the second half.
The Spartan defense may be "a little suspect" but Michigan's is Indiana-like. MSU will win this game if their offense can control the ball and T.O.P.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:MSU's D is still a little suspect, particularly the pass D, but I think they'll be capable of getting the stops they need. I don't see this game as being quite as high scoring as most do. I predict somewhat of a slow and sloppy 1st quarter as both teams will probably come in a little too amped.
point sort of taken. that's still about 300 less big plays than last year.Killian wrote:M Club wrote:michigan's also been good at preventing the big play
Huh?
not equating indiana's defense with msu's necessarily, but t.o.p. in the iu game was indiana 42 to michigan's 18.Mace wrote: The Spartan defense may be "a little suspect" but Michigan's is Indiana-like. MSU will win this game if their offense can control the ball and T.O.P.
It's a meaningless stat if you're giving up big plays like Minnesota or Indiana, but it's a huge stat if you're maintaining possession and scoring on long drives and your defense isn't giving up quick points.....as I think MSU will do with Michigan.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I don't really care how long MSU has the ball, as long as the punter stays off the field. Minny is 2nd in the nation in TOP, so I don't know how valuable that stat is.
For some reason that picture made me laugh.Screw_Michigan wrote:

lol. while this one is clearly sarcastic, brings up a point i've been thinking about....the shameless homer post-game youtube. where all the other team's 88 yard passing TD's are eliminated and 7 yard runs by the home team or a deflected pass by one the good guy's DBs are celebrated with some cookie cutter rap metal....is funny in a game where the score is 35-31....the other team's score magically appears in the screen graphic from 0 to 28 to 31. interesting genre of digital "art".MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:A comprehensive look at all of Michigan's great defensive plays vs IU (lifted from another site):

Nice win over Nicholls State btw.
