I was switching over for updates for a while.
Alabama does look scary but I have a feeling Oregon would give them a run for the money.

Since nobody watched, nobody cares...at least until the end of Nov (or until someone loses a game).

I was at our home game, but I was not surprised in the least by the score. UF is not a good team. We ran the ball all over them, so I figured 'Bama would be able to do much worse.Sudden Sam wrote:...Alabama played Florida.
Anybody watch?
I was glad to see the highlight of that pussy jump pass getting picked in the end zone.

Re: While Stanford played Oregon...
Ohio State looked like shit on Saturday, so if they had played either of the other two on that day it would have been ugly.
However, I can remember a couple weekends last year in which Oregon looked unstoppable and once again, tOSU looked sluggish. But when they actually played each other in a bowl game, it was a different story.
Still lots of football to be played. tOSU has enough talent to compete with anybody. But admittedly, we're getting hit with the injury bug especially in the secondary. And if Pryor can't be a running threat, we may drop a game or two anyways.

No. I've seen plenty of both Alabama and Florida over the past year or so, very little of Oregon or Stanford. It's like having a little strange.Sudden Sam wrote:Wow. #1 and #7 and nobody watched?Goober McTuber wrote:No.
Scary to watch the Tide in action, isn't it?
1 - Oregon should pass Ohio State right now.
2 - Alabama would beat Ohio State.
3 - Oregon would edge Alabama.

Three questions:
1 - If things were to stay as they are now...would Oregon pass Ohio State in the polls if they both go undefeated?
2 - If Alabama remains #1 or #2...as things look now...who would win an Alabama-Ohio State matchup?
3 - Same thing: Alabama-Oregon?
Looooooong way to go. Lotsa tough games for all three remain. But it's time to think about it.
According to BCS Guru per Rivals radio it isn't Oregon that is the factor. Due to the computers he states that Alabama and Oklahoma win out they are a virtual lock for the title game. Ohio State and Boise State are the outsiders looking in. TCU, Oregon, and Nebraska are just also rans who need a lot of schools in front of them to lose. If you look at the comp polls that help determine 1/3 of the BCS about half of them have Oregon ranked 8th or lower, some as low as 11th and 14th. Alabama and Oklahoma are the only two not outside the top 3 in any. Ohio State is the only one not outside of the top five other than the fore mentioned.

Go look at the comp polls moron... Oregon is the lowest of the seven schools mentioned on average. Alabama and Oklahoma are heads and shoulders above everyone else. There is only one computer that either of them are not ranked #1 in. I was shocked that Oklahoma is actually #1 in three of the formats.

No shit. It's way too early to get an accurate read on the computers and the polls are two-thirds of the formula. They all keep playing the way they have so far, it will be Alabama-Oregon.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I'm calling bullshit on that one.SunCoastSooner wrote:According to BCS Guru per Rivals radio it isn't Oregon that is the factor. Re: While Stanford played Oregon...
you mean those entirely objective coaches who never let conference bias or personal vendettas affect their voting? and that's if they even bother filling it out themselves (hola, joepa). interesting how writers and coaches polls tend to resemble one another anyhow.
Re: While Stanford played Oregon...
why bother with dins' link when your response was you'll trust the coaches poll instead, as if it it's more authoratative than an aggregate of polls and computer rankings. even if the coaches were somehow better at ranking teams than the writers are, why don't you put down your plate of crisco for a minute to point out the vast difference between these two polls:Papa Willie wrote: Oh - I'm sorry. You mean the one where a lot of the coaches delegate their voting responsibilties? Other that their own teams and their opponents, how many games do you think coaches watch anyway?Papa Willie wrote:http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... atpoll.htm
I'll trust this one the most. God damn those coaches for maybe knowing more than writers.

Re: While Stanford played Oregon...
I may have been the only person on this board watching ND-Fredo, except possibly for Killian and Lax. The local ABC affiliate carried that game and relegated Stanford-Oregon to ESPN2. As an added bonus, Burnt Cheeseburger wasn't calling the game.
More than anything, I came away impressed (not really the right word for it, but a more correct word escapes me at the moment) with how horrible Fredo is on offense. At QB, they benched the 26-year-old sophomore, started a true freshman who (apparently) broke his ankle during the game, and finished up with another true freshman who was even worse than the other guy. On the defensive side of the ball, game-planning for Fredo in their current state is simple: put 8 guys in the box, and force them to beat you through the air. It ain't gonna happen.
Btw, Fredo's 13 points came courtesy of one big pass play with an obvious coverage breakdown on ND's part, plus two FG's set up by ND turnovers deep in their own territory (I'm pretty sure Fredo didn't manage a first down in either of those two scoring drives). Essentially, ND's much-maligned (and rightfully so) defense came one big play and two turnovers away from pitching a shutout.
For my money, for those who play the Pick'Em, NC State -10.5 at home vs. Fredo is this week's stone cold lock. Fredo is that bad.

Massey, Sargain, and two other of the polls have to eliminate SOS from their calculations before being used by the BCS. Those are shown with SOS included.Dinsdale wrote:http://www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htmSunCoastSooner wrote: Go look at the comp polls moron...

Re: While Stanford played Oregon...
as far as the computers go, Colorado is ranked 8 spots higher than Cal at this point when Cal could have scored 100 on CU. While i think this is largely a shit system we have (I know, that's a controversial take around here....); but, these things take time to generate any statistically "valid" data.

Shoelace is going to be on a stretcher at some point this year. And next. It's unfortunate as he's a good kid it seems. Of course, you gotta catch up to him to lay him out, but if I was a gambling man, I'd bet he's going to get dinged up the way he runs.M Club wrote:my team's going to win the national championship this year. and next. and then three years from then.

i don't get the assumption that he's going to get hurt. of course, it could happen because it's football, but there are similar-sized running backs who take more beating running into the line 20+ times a game. plus, he's averaging 9 yards a carry: most of the hits he takes are from defensive backs or linebackers making tackles in open space. that goes without mentioning all the other dickrod qbs who were never seriously injured or all the old school option qbs who got through entire seasons.
that said, there's a lot of michigan fans sitting around waiting for the inevitable to happen, which started right after the uconn game when we realized how important he was to making our poor little team go.

Hasn't he been taken out of basically every game? And against teams with strainers for defenses. Sure, nothing serious yet, but there's at least a basis for a reasonable assumption.M Club wrote:i don't get the assumption that he's going to get hurt.
