In the future, maybe USC should try not inviting known-corrupt agents into their practices and locker room.

Lake and Michaels were never in a USC locker room.

USC didnt cheat. They were busted for not knowing that a players parents were getting illegal benefits. Not knowing isnt cheating.

Trevor Matich on college football live today said "it only takes one unscrupulous player, and one unscrupulous agent, to become a USC" Another cheapshot thrown towards USC from the folks at sEcSPN who are sympathetic when several players from Alabama or North Carolina are found out to have been receiving illegal benefits, even defending other schools saying that it is not possible to watch over every player in the program and their family just a month or so after demonizing Pete Carroll and USC for not catching the Griffens getting illegal benefits.
Whether it's been a conscious effort or not, the constant negative branding of USC by the media has become way over the top and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it hasn't strongly effected USC's recruiting efforts, both in the present and in the past couple years. USC is being branded a cheater when nobody at USC broke any rules or provided any illegal benefits to any of their football players. Stanfords radio team said that USC has been paying players millions of dollars a year to come to USC and play for USC. Really? Wheres the proof of that? Dont you think the NCAA would have mentioned that somewhere, anywhere?
I heard Kirk Herbstreit on Mike and Mike stating that guys like Butch Davis (UNC) should not be expected to look after 100 kids at all times while also watching endless hours of game film, going on recruiting trips, and doing booster functions. I can't understand why, in the same breath, these guys can't mention Pete Carroll and the unreasonable expectations EVERYONE placed on him. When USC were the only ones in the news it was "Pete Carroll should have known". Now that the problem is seen to be HUGE, it's "How could the coaches know? Don't blame Butch Davis." I think that's bullshit and someone needs to come out and say that about Pete Carroll. Nick Saban will call a press conference saying that the agents can not be controlled by the schools but at the same time condemn the Trojans for not being able to control an agent.
The worst part about what Matich said about this article was about how this agent came out and said that he paid a bunch of players. Another agent told one of the ESPN guys he believes EVERY guy who's a top draft prospect is at least getting offered money, and most take it. The first thing agents ask their client is "who do we have to pay back"
And then Trevor goes and says basically if teams aren't careful they'll END UP like USC. Even though they had just established earlier in the segment that EVERY team already is as bad or worse than USC.
At the same time Matich and Fowler expressed sympathy to any university affected by an unscrupulous agent and greedy players. Where has this ESPN sympathy been for USC for the last few months?
Every time someone like UNC or Bama have something like this agent thing, if the commentators want to reference USC with any amount of integrity, they need to do it in a manner that highlights how ridiculously small the issue was at USC compared to these other schools. And how egregious the punishment was.
Instead, guys like Matich and Fowler characterize USC as the perfect example of cheating and it's consequences. USC is the boogieman: "Look out, or you'll end up like THEM!!!
And let's not forget that UNC and Alabama's issues were not simply about an agent paying a student to leave the school. Most of these "academic" institutions are also up to their neck in academic fraud. Money to play sports? Seems like less of a crime against the virginal-pure concept of the student-athlete and the institutes institutional control than academic fraud.

USC hired an additional coach after they were told no, and didn't self report anything when these infractions came to light.

UNC, Bama, et all self reported and took steps to show they would work with the NCAA. How hard is it for you to fucking understand this?

just think of any double standards as the ncaa running up the score on you. your whining is unbecoming. suck it up and go watch your team piss away one of its last decent seasons on a bunch of last-second field goals.

Bullshit, the NCAA was tipped off by someone from canada and sent photos of all of these players at the agents NFL party in Florida, had the NCAA not been sent the photos or told about the party, these schools would not have reported shit.

The NCAA report said that USC cooperated above and beyond what they expected or required, its in the report. You continue to say that USC did not cooperate and but the NCAA report disagrees with you.

How 'bout Leaf paying dude back? Solid.

Clearly the most stand-up up thing Leaf ever did save for maybe letting Mike Price crash at his Idaho pad in the aftermath of Price's Bama debacle.

according to that agent and a few others interviewed on ESPN and Fox Sports Radio shows have said that it is common that agents or their runners are giving almost every player projcted to be drafted something without the schools knowing about it. When it comes time for the players to actually sign with the agents one of the first questions to the player from the agen is "who do we have to pay back?"
Reggie paid Michael Michaels back the 85 grand and change plus interest his step dad had borrowed/took from Michaels, Lloyd Lake wanted some hush money since Reggie signed with someone else and told the Griffens that for 300k he would stay quiet, having paid the money back to the one who gave it to his family, Reggie refused to pay Lake who first tired to sue and when the court case was thrown out, he went to yahoo. Lake and Michaels did not represent USC, they were never allowed in to USCs locker room or on their sideline, Michaels never even went near USC. Lake said he made a few deliveries to Reggie in LA but was never on the campus
USC deserves to be held to the same standard as everyone else. 1 player took illegal benfits for 1 season, it cost the trojans 30 scholarships, 3 years of probation and 2 years of bowl eligibility. North carolina has at least 5 or 6 guys now who have been receiving benefits illegally over multiple seasons, they had an assistant coach that was on the payroll of an agent, they have widespread academic fraud. North Carolina deserves at least 180 scholarships lost, a 12 year bowl eligibility ban and 18 years of probation plus whatever the NCAA gives them for having coaches paid by agents and the wide spread academic fraud. Either that or lessen the sanctions on USC

And now Cheaty is saying "well sure I saw the car... it looked old, and those people take care of that stuff!"

Yep, in the end, that's +2 for ole Ryan. If he would have received that :01 like he deserved in the 98 Rose Bowl, he'd be +101.

USC got screwed and Schmick should get fucking pissed off and go on a killing spree (starting with himself, of course) to show his disdain for the corrupt NCAA.

All in favor say "aye"
All opposed, go fuck yourself.

Side note: Wow, T1B now has spell check mixed in? God damn, you guys have made the big time. What next? A non-1998 website design and Viagara ads?

USC not cooperating is a made up story by the SC haters, show one link to anyone from the NCAA saying that USC did not cooperate fully with the investigation.

How about you show me one link that showed USC self reporting anything to the NCAA? I can find a bunch for NC, Michigan and most every school.

Bama did not lose 30 scholarships because a step dad of a player wanted money from an agent. bama had academic fraud, boosters paying players and high school coaches to try to get recruits and more than 1 player geting illegal benefits. whats worse is that Bama was turned in by Fulmer who had a whole team of players cheating and Tennessee wasnt forced to forfeit any games or their national title.
USC and Bush will deserve what the NCAA and Heisman comittee gve them when Tennessee and Michigan forfeit their titles and Charles Woodson has to give back his Heisman. The standards and punishment must be the same across the board, otherwise the good ole boy network will continue to select who they want to be the good teams through their double standards. I hate USC sues the shit out of the NCAA and tears the whole system down.

That's life, dipshit. Wanna know why the Cops don't ever pick on me or arrest me? BECAUSE I DON'T BREAK THE FUCKING LAW.

Ok, fine.......

I DON'T BREAK THE FUCKING LAW..............unless it's some incredibly minor offense.

Jaywalking is a slightly minor offense, relatively speaking, as compared to buying someones mom a house so they will go play football for a certain school. Jaywalking would be more comparable to a coach buying one of his former players a hamburger at Wendy's because he saw him outside in the cold begging for food and felt bad.
