I don't think an unbeaten SEC team would force ESPN to get all pissy unless it were Florida, LSU or Alabama or maybe Tennessee. Auburn is a great program but nobody would get mad if they got left out of the title game. No one cared in 2004.

The ONLY way we ever even have a playoff considered by the NCAA is if one of the absolute elite programs is left out. The problem is this will never happen because the voting is essentially rigged. Voters will always make sure the more elite program that's unbeaten is ranked ahead of a lesser program that's unbeaten.

Oh sure, ESPN might have a few people voice there displeasure with an SEC team being left out, but they won't put up enough fuss over Auburn to get the NCAA to really care.

Playing Boise State in Glendale scares me more than playing Auburn or Oregon right now.

Boise is a defensive coaches worst nightmare...they attack you in so many different ways with so many different offensive weapons....their starting receivers Titus Young and Austin Pettis may be the best one two combination in college today....they've got a tight end that only catches TD passes.....Doug Martin (BSU's RB) hits like a freight train and definitely runs with a purpose, and Jeremy Avery (the other RB) presents a whole different set of problems (speed and quickness)...and Moore, maybe the most intelligent starting QB in all of college football.....not being a honk, just being realistic...that offense is just scary good

I agree that Boise would be able to recruit better athletes if they were in a major conference but, in a backhanded sort of way, you're admitting that they don't currently recruit the same quality of player as schools in the BCS conferences, which would confirm that they could not compete in a major conference with their current players....which is also confirmed by the number of NFL draftees coming out of Boise. I will agree that they are extremely well coached but their successful seasons, imo, have more to do with the coaching and their extremely weak schedule. As for recruiting, they would still be recruiting players to live in Boise fucking Idaho and to play on that ugly blue field. They're getting more media play by NOT being in a BCS conference which, coupled with their 12-0 seasons, helps their recruiting tremendously.

so right here, they'd have 8 wins

so even if boise were to lose to Texas (which they wouldn't), Missouri (which I don't think is as good as their record indicates so I'm pretty confident Boise could beat them), Oklahoma (which I think would be a good game, but I think home field would dictate which team came out with a W) and Nebraska (which has demonstrated they're not all that), it's pretty evident to me that Boise State could be very competitive in the Big 12 which is a long fucking way from "getting their ass kicked on a routine basis"

Agreed. It's conceivable that BSU could have the best team in the country at some point in time, but it's impossible for them to prove it with their incredibly weak schedule. It won't matter by the end of the season because the computers are going to kick the shit out of Boise, even if their weak ass conference teams can't. They'll still be overrated, but they won't be in contention for the CG.

As for Oregon, I'll admit that they're fun to watch but, just as in the Rose Bowl vs tOSU, their high octane offense will look like a go-cart sputtering on fumes when they face a good defense. To date, Oregon hasn't faced a defense ranked higher than 47th nationally and, even as good as they look on offense, I think they'll fail if they're matched up against a quality D in the NC game, should they get the nod.

We heard the same bullshit last season about the "nastiest offense in the history of the game" and they were shut down when they faced a good defense, and the same will be true this season. And no, one game does not have that much effect on the stats. They've faced nothing more than mediocre to poor defenses.

if that were to transpire, it would simply be another travesty perpetrated by the BCS....in my humble opinion, Oregon is probably the best team in the country with Auburn being second (must reign in "homerism")......I'd love to see an undefeated Auburn and undefeated Oregon match-up for the MNC, unfortunately, I don't think Auburn can beat Alabama at Tuscaloosa...

Mizzou has a tough road schedule ahead of them and I can't see them going undefeated....so, assuming bama beats Auburn and Oregon goes undefeated the rest of the way, the MNC would most likely be tide/ducks
