The 49er Clusterfuck
Re: The 49er Clusterfuck
I seem to remember him fucking over the Skins at some point in the early 2000s. However, it has become tough to distinguish one offensive abortion from the next with this shit team.

According to multiple sources familiar with the circumstances, the real problem has been more than a year in the making and became more significant following changes the 49ers made within the coaching staff this offseason.
In Singletary’s first full season last year, offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye, one of the morerespected veteranblack coaches in the league, was calling plays from the coach’s box upstairs. Raye would call plays down to offensive assistant Jason Michael, who would then send the play into the quarterback. That system worked effectively even at times when Raye struggled to find exactly the right play or say it exactly the right way.

How so? Does it make you uncomfortable that I call out Jimmy Raye for being an incompetant fucktard who can barely speak English and that the only reason that stupid fuck is employed at any level in the NFL is the fact that he is a niggger? If he was white and couldn't talk, he would have been shitcanned years ago and rightly so. Funny, I can't recall any white coaches who needed a translator to attempt to make sense out of the gibberish coming out his cakehole. If a coach can't quickly and effectively communicate in the English language, he is worthless.

Before you read that story, you didn't even know who Jimmy Raye was. And now you accuse him of being barely able to speak English. As for Raye, I would be willing to bet that given his age, his obvious intelligence, and his issues with play calling, which involves reading documents at high rates of speed, is that he is a functioning dyslexic who has been able to overcome his disability through his career, but who has found a stumbling block within his current work environment.

Re: The 49er Clusterfuck
I'm surprised Jimmy Raye was an offensive coordinator as far back as '83. I didn't realize he'd been blunderfucking teams for that long. I'm guessing his name never came up as a possible head coaching candidate even though he's in like his 34th year of coaching. You'd think that being a coordinator for much of that time would at least get you an interview.....maybe it did and the owner/GM couldn't understand what the fuck he was saying so they just hired someone qualified. Raye sucks ass dudes. If I'd taken the time to see that he was their O-coordinator I would have picked a different team to win the West. Between Raye and Singletary you've got shit dripping out both SIDES of the bed.
Re: The 49er Clusterfuck
I do- the 2000 Chiefs were behind A LOT in most of their games and Elvis Grbac had to chuck the football all over the yard to try and keep up. AS for Jimmy Raye, he might be the worst NFL offensive coordinator I've ever seen. How that no-clue fucktard continues to be employed at such a position time after time after time in the NFL astounds me.KC Scott wrote:I'm surprised to see the Chiefs were 8th in Offense in 2000 - Goonthers last season.
I can't remember anything special about that team at all

That's it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye."
Re: The 49er Clusterfuck
In the case of the Niners, it's simple. Singletary wanted a run-first, ball-control, field-possession offense. Read: 2000 Ravens. As you can imagine, in today's era of dynamic pro-style offenses, there wasn't exactly a crowd lining up for that gig. Raye was pretty much all they could get.Paul wrote: AS for Jimmy Raye, he might be the worst NFL offensive coordinator I've ever seen. But let's clear some things up. Last year's offensive linemen, with few exceptions, were either guys who'd be backups on any other squad or playing out of position due to injury. It didn't help when Joe Staley, their best lineman and left tackle, went out for the season.
So then they were stuck with a run-first offensive OC and they couldn't run. No run = no play action = Smith running for his life...again.
Now I'm no Jimmy Raye play-calling fan, but I give the guy a lot of credit for being a 1980's era coordinator who devised a hybrid spread offense when they players told the coaches that's what they wanted. Was it always pretty? Fuck, no. But it's the only reason they scored enough points to finish 8-8, although much of that credit goes to the defense as well.
As for Raye's problems on the headset, no mvscal, it wasn't because he was keeping it rill, yo. Evidently the during pressure moments, the guy gets the yips and stutters. What pisses me off though is that the "headset problems" were that Raye was combining aspects of particular plays, or effectively making up shit that was technically "part of the offense", but had never been practiced. This is stupid, half-assed and unacceptable no matter how you look at it. In year two of an offense HE designed, play calling should be crisp and damn near automatic.
The difference against the Saints was the greatly improved play of their two rookie linemen, Iupati and Davis. Those guys were monsters in the run game and it showed with Gore averaging 5+ yards/carry. Unsurprisingly, this gave Smith the time he needed to find 2nd and 3rd reads.
I know everyone loves to bash Alex Smith and I've done plenty of it myself. But I do give the guy credit for taking less money to stay with the Niners and never turning "bitterman" when a lot of guys would have. Let's also keep in mind that this guy has been effectively running for his life for five years and until last year was throwing to Arnaz Battle and a bunch of scout team receivers, had Mike Nolan as his head coach and a front office drafting steaming turd after steaming turd.
Here's how I see them finishing this season:
Win - @ Kansas City Chiefs
Loss- @ Atlanta Falcons
Win - Philadelphia Eagles
Win - Oakland Raiders
Win - @ Carolina Panthers
Loss - Denver Broncos
Win - St. Louis Rams
Win - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Win - @ Arizona Cardinals
Loss - @ Green Bay Packers
Win - Seattle Seahawks
Loss - @ San Diego Chargers
Win - @ St. Louis Rams
win - Arizona Cardinals

And the Niners beat the Chargers with Steve Young's SB record 6td passes, all while everyone worked to overcome the communication issues of George Seifert. That dude was either mute or screaming for like 30 minutes at a time, all while making horrid clock management calls.
Thanks, Mikey. I think our posts have done a great job of giving mvscal closure on this thread.

Re: The 49er Clusterfuck
I'm glad this dick got replaced. Except I don't think he was trying to bait Singletary, he was trying to embarrass him or at least make him squirm. The interviewer lays out the info from the Yahoo article, which is obviously the truth because of Singletary's "rat" comments. Then asks Singletary what the truth is. Singletary is obviously in the shitty position (that he put himself in, granted) of trying to defend the indefensible...namely, Raye's communication problems, play calling and the related delay of game penalties and wasted time outs. So this douche purposely put the coach in the position of having to publicly dress down Raye and he rather than do so he lashed out.
Also, Singletary had just gotten done with an earlier press conference where he got all of the questions this dude was asking. The entire purpose of a presser is that you get answers to the questions everyone wants to ask. This dude chose to neither attend nor review the press conference, then wants to use what is normally a softball-question segment to rehash Singletary's current major headache.
This is exactly why coaches give canned interviews where they say the key to the game is "running the ball, field position and winning the turnover battle". Singletary is learning this the hard way, but if you heard his recent press

Yep. Well put and something every reporter in the Bay Area knows. So asking the petulant coach to explain an embarrassing situation (again) isn't being a douchebag Jim Grey-like reporter? And after Singletary got pissed about it, he repeated his "so what's the truth?" question.mvscal wrote:Petulant

At least Nolan looked and acted like a coach even though he sucked. Singletary looks and acts like a fuckwitted pantload and brings an unimaginable level of suck. Clearly he is in waaaay over his head and I'm guessing he took one too many shots to the dome during his playing days. He's like a punch drunk fighter wobbling around on the sidelines without a clue. Worst head coach in the league and there isn't even a close second. There is no turning this pile of shit around. The iceberg has been struck. The deck chairs have been rearranged.
I admit that I fell for the preseason hype but this is far beyond the worst case scenario envisioned for this group of fuck ups.
