No chance that Republican Charles Grassley will lose his Senate seat in Iowa. I think the Dems will hold on to their current House seats but not sure if they can unseat the Republican incumbents.
Democrat Governor, Chet Culver, is behind in the polls to former Gov. Terry Branstad, but is making up some ground in the polls the past couple of weeks. Probably too little, too late. Culver has done a decent job in a horrible economy of keeping Iowa afloat, but made a 10% cut in the state budget last year that turned off a lot of public employees....even though it needed to be done. Culver takes a more reasonable approach to budget cuts than Branstad, who will take meat cleaver to the budget, and, according to the most recent numbers, has managed to create a surplus. Culver has also been ranked #3 in the country for managing the budget in the current economy.
The most interesting vote, aside from Governor, is the retention vote for the Iowa Supreme Court. The most recent polls reflect that all three Justices up for retention will be out of work come January 1.
