Rot in hell you disingenuous sack of shit. Joe Buck and then Tim McCarver, you are NEXT.BRISTOL, Conn.(AP) -- Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are out as announcers on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball after 21 seasons.
"Over the last two decades, Joe went from Hall of Fame player to one of his sport's top analysts and Jon's Hall of Fame voice and tremendous knowledge of the game have connected with baseball fans everywhere," ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson said in a statement Monday. "We owe them our deepest thanks for an outstanding body of work."
The network did not announce replacements.
Miller, the play-by-play voice, received the Baseball Hall of Fame's 2010 Ford C. Frick Award. Morgan, the color commentator, was a two-time National League MVP with the Cincinnati Reds. The second baseman was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990.

FireJoeMorgan.com comes to fruition
Well, the classic blog died in late 2008, unfortunately never able to see its goal.
Re: FireJoeMorgan.com comes to fruition
I was impressed with the Ron Darling and John Smoltz color commentary during the ALCS and division series. I'm not big on Ernie Johnson as a P-b-P guy, but Darling and Smoltz were nailz. Maybe ESPN can lure them to some analysts gigs and have one of their younger pbp guys do the Sunday Night games.

As a Giants fan, I'm stoked, as he'll be calling all of our games next year.
Miller is far and away the best announcer in baseball and tremendously knowledgeable, as evident by his ability to call any game, anywhere between any two teams with equal skill.
ESPN has never been short on retardation, but cutting Miller loose is on a whole new level of stupid even for them. So the only thing that I can think of to cause this is that Miller was looking for more $$$ after receiving the 2010 Ford C. Frick award.

p-willie, now you've officially documented yourself as a true tard, simple as that.
Miller has lost nothing and has only gotten better and better. He is the best by a mile. McCarver and Buck are insufferable, as is the humorless Vin Scully. I will agree that Morgan sounds painfully robotic and all-but depressed though he's in no way racist--unlike a twisted loser like you!

Well, Harry Kalas threw the big switch on Opening Day 09, so there was a big void to be filled.

I don't know if Miller is "the best" as OCMike believes, but he's damned good. I can see getting rid of Morgan, but Miller is very capable.
Re: FireJoeMorgan.com comes to fruition
Miller calls a decent game until one team gets a lead, and then he starts homering..better than McCarver who thinks the listeners have on fucking clue about the game, and feels then need to explain the dynamics of a double play every time it happens
Morgan does hate whites, and had made no bones about it many times. His ass should be gone.
Vin Scully does a great job as a single commentator and being older than the hills..grew up listening to him in LA up until I was about 5 years old..I can still remember hearing him on my Dads transistor radio in the back yard as he did yard work. I still have the radio BTW

Miller has a great voice, but once somebody gets a decent lead he starts yammering endlessly about god knows what. Morgan is a massive toolbox who looks for opportunities to gloat about his playing days. It was funny listening to Orel take subtle shots at Morgan when he started busting out his rings on air, and crap like that.

Yeah, if one team gets a good lead Miller will start spinning yarns, but so do Scully and the other true pros. They're trying to give you a few nuggets of info to keep the average fan interested in the game. Hardcore fanswill listen anyway.

Re: FireJoeMorgan.com comes to fruition
p-willie, you've got nothing--or at least we've seen nothing from you to warrant any sort of boasting about anything. I doubt you know much about baseball, and you obviously have no appreciation of quality baseball announcing. Jon Miller could read the phone book and make it an enjoyable experience. Why? because he has soul (unlike Scully) and a sense of humor (unlike Morgan or Buck)--and he respects the fan's baseball acumen (unlike the insufferable McCarver). His knowledge of the game is encyclopedic and his genuine love for it is devout. His eloquence is unmatched--or what? Who else would you actually compare to Miller's skills of rhythm and diction, his cadence and precision? Who? Maybe Dave Fleming, his S.F. broadcast partner--and getting him on board was like having Joe Montana and then getting Steve Young!
As for Morgan, he's a witless grump--and I do recall eons ago when he was shamelessly propping Barry Bonds over Lenny Dykstra during a great playoff series, and it did sound biased, but he's far to circumspect to display any obvious prejudice. Do you have any actual examples? Who cares? He was dreadful and he's done. But Miller goes on, to the loss of the national audience.

^^^^Best LTS TRN2 post ever. He's still a stupid fucking troll but at least he finally posted a half educated opinion on something. Props for the effort, dumbfuck.

Berman's schtick appeals to teenagers with disposable income and idiots. Which is exactly the demographic ESPN's advertisers are looking for.Toddowen wrote:I thought the general consensus is that Berman is a studio fixture and doesn't call a decent enough game. Probably ESPN believes otherwise.
