Something isn't adding up (re:Can Newton)
I really don't know what to think about this Cam Newton saga. We KNOW he committed academic fraud at Florida. He admitted it in his "I'm not here to talk about the past"/Mark McGwire answer. So we know that happened. We don't know who on earth leaked that. If it was Urban Meyer, he could get in some serious trouble with the Feds. That's very much against the law. But I just don't believe it was Urban Meyer. I think Urban is classless. I think he's a bottom of the barrel human being. But he is not dumb, and he knows what a huge mistake this would be. So who leaked it? Dan Mullen? Eh, doubtful. Seems like he and Cam had a good relationship. A friend of Cam Newton? Possibly. Cam Newton's dad? Wouldn't put it past that idiot, but unlikely. Who knows.
But the $180,000 bounty for an unaccomplished QB? Something just isn't adding up here. I can believe a Pastor with a son as talented as Cam would go out and try and get some money from a school in exchange for his boy signing an LOI. That much I can believe. Let's face it, the scuzziest people in society are religious fucks. They're ALL hypocrites. They would do ANYTHING for a buck. If they're not busy forcing little boys to suck them off, they're out scamming people out of money. They use the Church as a way of distracting people from realizing what their true intentions are. If you are overly religious (and I'm not talking about those that celebrate christmas, go to church on Sundays, and have a cross dangling from their car mirror- I'm talking about the nutjobs that go too far and make religion their fucking life), you are stupid, you are a hypocrite, and you a shitty human being. Every single one of them. Anyways, what I'm saying is it doesn't surprise me that someone like Newton's old man would go out and try and make some money off of Cam's talents.
But here's where it just doesn't make sense. While Cam was a 5-star QB coming out of HS, he only played sparingly at Florida and then spent a year at a JUCO. I find it very hard to believe schools would pay that kind of money for him. Maybe $10k. Maybe a 2007 Ford Taurus. Something like that. But $180k? Whaaaaaaaaaat!?? If anything, his stock would have been the highest when he was in HS because he was the #2 ranked QB in the nation at the time. But here's what also doesn't make sense..........why on earth would Mississippi State turn him in? I know, he turned them down to go to Auburn so they're pissed. Maybe, but you're not going to make this type of shit up. You have to be one sick mother fucker to do that. And this is the SEC. Schools turn in other schools for cheating, but let's face it........they're turning them in for shit they actually did. Turning another school in is kinda lame, but it's not like these SEC schools are making shit up.
So I find it hard to believe ANYONE would get that kind of money from a school- let alone Cam Newton (remember, this was done BEFORE he ended up becoming a Heisman caliber QB). But I also just can't imagine anyone being this fucked in the head that they would make up a story this big. Could I see someone making up a cheating scandal about a school giving a recruit a nice Rolex watch? Sure. But $180k?? You gotta be one sick fuck to do that. It's not like this is the first time a big recruit has ever shot down Mississippi State to go somewhere else. It probably happens on an annual basis, so it doesn't make sense that they just randomly picked Cam Newton to make up a cheating scandal about. Maybe they did. Maybe Mississippi State just got really fucking bored and got together to come up with this big fat lie about Cam Newton's recruiting.
I will say, it is easier to believe Mississippi State. Let's face it........Cam Newton is a jerkoff. Stole a computer and also committed academic fraud. Plus, his old man is a scumbag (not his fault, I understand that). This is a strange story, and I have no idea who to believe. The only thing I know is Cam Newton needs to grow the fuck up and start acting his age.

$180K isn't that out of the norm. Chris Webber was getting offered that kind of money out of high school and ended up taking about $600k while at UofM. Rumor is that AJ Green cost UGA between $200 and $250K.

Damn, for a guy who is as passionate about CFB as you seem to be Noj, you sure are one ignorant retarded motherfucker.
Yup, he spent a year at JUCO... and led his team to the JUCO championship pretty much by himself, with one eye closed, and both hands tied behind his back, which made him the #1 recruit in the fucking country, and added some decimal points to the "5 Star" rating.
You fucking idiot.

By himself? You aren't very familiar with JUCO ball if you think Cam was by himself at Blinn. Blinn is consistently one of the top 15 JUCO programs in the country. Blinn, Butler, Coffeyville, Hutchinson, Ellsworth, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, and Snow are like the Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, and USC's of junior college football.Dinsdale wrote:TheJON wrote: But the $180,000 bounty for an unaccomplished QB?

SCS has an oppositional defiance disorder. He can't help himself. I wait impatiently for that sweet day when he denies he has Tejas cock in his mouth and bruises on his chin from speedbaggin' Longhorn sack. Until then, I will just play along until his disorder kicks in.

4 and 5 star QBs coming out of JUCO programs, especially the ones I mentioned, have a much higher success rate and winning percentage than 4 and 5 star QBs coming directly out of high school. Nebraska fan is still tugging off a number that Dr. Tom got over on Texas and Deloss Dodds and OU didn't want to be their rival in 96....just read between the lines of HFal's post. you'd think NU would get the point that actually beating UT on the field would earn some horn respect. but, i guess not. or how would they know?

Gotta love SCS. His entire schtick is to prove what a bitter, sad and pathetic individual he is. And this dolt is ripping on me? Hahahaha!
Dude, you're a bitter man. You have the worst takes any non-troll on this board has. You think Dook has a lot of hotties. How fucking dumb do you have to be to make that comment? You said OU was a great team and I was a moron for disagreeing? I guess you were the moron.
Being bitter is no way to go through life, son. Don't blame others because they're better and smarter than you. Be thankful for the few gifts that god gave you (there has to be something, right?). Then you will be happier, and then we can stop reading your pathetic "angry man" posts over and over again. get a new schtick, douche. We get it, you're bitter and mad at the world. How many fucking times do you have to show us this? Try making just one post where you don't insult someone and actually have a decent take.
Dook chicks are hotties......ahahahahahahahahaha! My god you're clueless.
Oh, and please tell me I'm a moron because I don't think OU is the best team in the country. What the fuck was I thinking, right? Silly me actually giving an honest assessment about your mediocre football team. I guess I wasn't the moron.....looks like (big shock here) YOU were the moron.

I never said we were a great team moron. I said we had earned our position, at the time, in the BCS. Which we had. We had played one of the toughest schedules in the country according to the SOS and we were a better team than Iowa; I still believe we are a better team than Iowa and think most would agree and almost certainly every non Big Ten fan on the board.TheJON wrote:Gotta love SCS. There are at least three people on this board who on a social network with me and another who knows me out here on a personal level and all of them can attest to the fact I predicted the Misery lost before hand.

That's a foreign subject to noJ. If his personality on the board is anything similar to that in real life I doubt he has the first clue what it would be like to have any form of social life... and his posting frequency tends to re-enforce that assumption.Carson wrote:...says the loser who posts 24 hours a day.

I have no life because I post on here allegedly 24 hours a day? Great take. Carson with 2 idiot posts in 1 thread. As usual, you bring nothing of substance to an argument- much like your 1st take in the thread where instead of trying to dispute anything I said you just ran an insult. Talk about having no life. "Look at me, I come to internet message boards to talk shit". And I'm the one with no life? Hilarious.
Have a football take or go away. Do you have anything of substance to add to this thread? You rip on me for my Cam Newton take- well, what part do you disagree with? Or are you just trying to be cool internet guy?
SCS,
How can you say OU is better than Iowa after getting whooped by a lousy Aggie team? Iowa is much more experienced and every bit as much talented. OU is going to be good in a year, but they are just average this year. Iowa is an experienced team that hasn't lost a single game by more than a touchdown since 2007- and I'm not saying who that opponent was in fear of giving Screw_Michigan a boner! In fact, I believe Iowa is the only team in the country to have not lost a single game by more than a TD since 2007. OU has played way too many close games with mediocre teams and their best win was over an average FSU squad. Landry Jones is ok, but he's far inferior to Stanzi. Our offensive line is much better than OU's as well. Defensively, we are better than OU at at least 7-8 positions- when healthy. We also have more skill position depth than OU. Our top 2 running backs have been out all year, yet we are still able to run the football pretty well. That says a lot about the depth this team has.
Iowa would be a touchdown favorite on a neutral field against OU- I would guarantee it.

Common opponent Iowa State (both games were home games for Iowa and Oklahoma). Iowa 35-7, 20 (Iowa) first downs to 15 (ISU), Iowa 479 offensive yards to Iowa State's 275 total offensive yards, Iowa 204 Passing yards to Iowas State's 197 yards, Iowa 275 rushing yards to Iowa State's 78 yards. Oklahoma 52-0, Oklahoma 37 first downs to Iowa State's 10 first downs, Oklahoma 672 total yards to Iowa State's 183 totals yards, Oklahoma 347 passing yards to Iowa's 124 yards, Oklahoma 325 rushing yards to Iowa State's 59 rushing yards.
I think this guarantee is kind of like the 20+ future NFL draft picks from Iowa's team three years ago you guaranteed us all.

This was about the type of response I expected from someone with your football knowledge. Nice stats example. Iowa was up 35-0 in the 3rd quarter and took the starters out and just ran the ball up the middle every play. ISU scored with 2 minutes to go against our 3rd string defense- they had their STARTERS in. Anyone watching that game knows Iowa COULD have named the score but our coach never runs it up. That game was over in the 2nd quarter.SunCoastSooner wrote:Oklahoma against ranked opponents this season 3-1, Iowa against ranked opponents this season 2-2.TheJON wrote:I have no life because I post on here allegedly 24 hours a day? SCS,
How can you say OU is better than Iowa after getting whooped by a lousy Aggie team?
That said, it doesn't matter. Whether or not OU outperformed Iowa against our one common opponent doesn't mean OU is better.
Way to just go ahead and completely make up OU's record vs Top 25 teams. That's brilliant. You have ZERO wins against current AP or Coaches Poll Top 25 teams. You have a 2-1 record vs teams that were ranked at the time you played them, but that doesn't mean diddly squat. I don't expect someone like you to understand this, but your argument is based completely on the assumption that preseason and early Top 25 polls are accurate. One of those wins you include is Texas. That is a 4-5 Texas team that is probably the worst team in the Big-12 South and most likely will not even make a bowl game. Florida State is 6-3 and plays in the ACC- whoopty doo. Those were the 2 opponents you faced that were in the Top 25 at the time you played them. The loss was to an overrated Missouri team that has only 1 even remotely quality win- Oklahoma.
Who are you claiming as the 3rd ranked opponent? I know you're just making stats up, but I'm trying to figure out who that other team is? Are you talking about a horrible Air Force team that was ranked briefly about a month ago? That team is god awful. They are 5-4 and don't have 1 single win against a team that isn't one of the worst in the country.
Iowa is 7-2 with only 1 close win. We have a blowout victory over a Top 15 team. A double digit road win over a 6-3 Michigan team and a 3 touchdown win over a 6-3 Penn State team to go along with 4 blowout victories over crappy teams. Our 2 losses were by a combined 8 points to teams ranked in the Top 15 currently. 2 bad special teams plays away from being 9-0. Compare that to OU.........a double digit loss to a BAD Texas A&M team and a loss to Missouri in a game where they were pretty much dominated in every facet of the game. The wins? Blowout wins over 2 bad teams (ISU, Colorado) and 1 average team (FSU). You have 7 point or LESS victories over 4 truly pitiful football teams- Utah State, Cincinnati, Texas and Air Force.
You can continue trying to fudge the facts all you want, but you can't win this argument. Plain and simple.......you have to have absolutely no football knowledge to think OU is a better team than Iowa this year. That's just stupid. Do you even watch the games?

My posting frequency is more correlated to the fact that I now run 3 websites and have a pregnant wife, smart guy. T1B is my place to discuss one of my favorite hobbies- College football. I spend half my day "working" and half my day watching ballgames and checking out sports related sites. Hey, if that constitutes as "not having a life", then I can honestly say I am proud to not have a life.
Sorry I'm not cool like you and go out partying every night when my wife is getting ready to pop. If I was more mature this is what I would be doing, right?

I actually wanted to name my son "Hayden", but she won't go along with that because everyone will assume we named him after Hayden Fry. I like the name "Hayden". I really don't see what the big deal about naming your kid after something related to your favorite sports teams. My kid is going to grow up to be a sports nut anyways and I would imagine yours will as well. My wife absolutely refuses to go with a name related to any of my sports teams. If sports are a big part of your life, there's nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Just as long as you aren't giving them a stupid name like those jackoffs have done by naming their kid "Espn". I wanted to name him Hayden James- James is the name of her grandfather. Sounds perfect to me.IndyFrisco wrote:Rack! Heisman for Stanzi? You stupid? I never said Stanzi would win the Heisman. I never even said he would be a Heisman finalist. Unless you're referring to my drunken post I made while tailgating before the Wisconsin game. Yeah, I was being super serious with that genius. And, in case you were wondering.......Ricky's having a damn fine season. I would say 1,900+ yards, 20 TD's, and 3 interceptions ain't too shabby.Iowa had those 20 NFL draft picks yet? How's that Heisman for Stanzi looking on the trophy case? Iowa's working on what, its 3rd Big Ten title since the board opened that you've predicted.
Are you just going to make every thing up? Can you EVER argue a point without making up things I said or fudging statistics? What the fuck does "Iowa's working what, its 3rd Big Ten title since the board opened that you've predicted" mean? Ummm......Iowa IS working on its 3rd Big-10 title since these boards opened. Last I checked, we're right in the hunt for a Big-10 title. Am I missing something here??

Well, what do you expect to happen once stupid people (Carson, SCS) start posting in a football thread? It's not like the thread won't get off topic considering their inabilities to bring a decent football argument to the table. It's not like either of those dolts could come up with a reasonable take that is football related. They have to stick to insulting other posters because their football knowledge is so minimal.Papa Willie wrote:From Cam to pregger thickness.

I wish my parents named me after a sports idol of theirs. I think it would have been cool. Although, if my dad would have done that, I probably would have been named Randy since his favorite Hawkeye of all-time was Randy Duncan. Either that or Forrest, after Forrest Evashevski. So maybe it's a good thing they didn't do that.Mace wrote:Jon and Indy both have pregnant wives?? Wow! mvscal is really making the rounds and using his frequent flyer miles.
