Nebraska is back to last season

Post by Danimal »

Play D and hope the O doesn't blow our leg off too bad. The O just isn't the same without Taylor at full-speed. Wish we at-least had Lee at qb, being down to #3 in Green hurts. He scares the heck out of me every play, just waiting for a fumble or pick. Hope he can pull it together some. We've had too many drops, when we do have a decent pass half the time we drop it.

Can't wait til we're done with Beebe and Anderson's boys officiating our games, can't freaking wait.

Folks on our boards don't know. Bo does blow-up too-much. My guess is TM wasn't executing what they planned but I don't know.

Refs continue to do Beebe proud.

Pelini should know by now that constantly yelling at officials doesn't usually help your cause.

I totally agree, he should've learned this lesson. He is not repping us well.

That said, this is a total screwjob. That was probably the earliest "late hit" on a qb I've ever seen. That last ATM score was a gift.

Did anyone notice that Burkhead was clearly tackled out of bounds, as he ran without falling down, but the clock continued to run for 20 seconds? It stopped momentarily at 2:57 in the 4th. Then it started again. WTF?

Wasn't about to log in during the game as I had been watching it on tape delay up until about 5 minutes to go. My thoughts...

- Had Martinez not gotten hurt early, I think Nebraska has a double digit lead at half. They were moving the ball. We weren't.

- SINCE he got hurt (which is not an excuse by the way), the Twelth Man rose up and caused some confusion for NU on offense resulting in a couple penalties.

- Nebraska became victim to the yellow flag. All penalties were deserved except for the last oughing the passer on #12. He nailed Tannehill less than a second after he threw the ball. His head seemed down and he launched, but I didn't think that was flag-worthy.

- the pick-up of the flag on Harris was the right call. His left hand got to the ball at the same time or before his right arm began the hook. It was funny seeing the mercury meter explode on Pelini after picking up that flag though.

- Burkhead was a moose, but why did they go completely away from Hulu? Was he hurt? He was owning us too.

- I thought Green looked much better than Martinez did after he returned for the second half. Maybe they should have let the kid settle in thought I don't blame Nebraska for going back to Martinez. Once you make the call, you gotta stick with it I guess unles h is hobbling.

- A&M punt game has sucked all year. I almost cried in the first half. For us, field position is the equalizer. Pin us and we're most likely fucked.

- Lastly, for anyone on the yellow rag, douche, rinse, repeat and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Fuck NU and fuck you.

Gig'em.

It's not the calls against us that I'm upset about. It's the calls that you guys didn't get called for that have me irate. Even Herbie mentioned it a few times that you guys got away with some holds. It was BLATANT on every play.

I fully admit to getting a gift. A gift from an undiciplined team and coach in NU. There was a large disparity in penalties and yards, but you can't expect the refs to blow penalies on us just because Nebraska is commiting them right and left and we are not. Yeah, thanks for the gift. I'm not saying we couldn't have won it without the penalties. We had our fair share of fuck-ups on offense and special teams, but we survived them.

I didn't have a dog in this fight, but overall I thought the Huskers got fucked in terms of officiating. Interesting in that I happened to get a call from my dad tonight who is a little older than Wolfman, who used to also referee when he was younger, and he commented to me that college football officiating this year was awful in terms of overtly favoring the home teams. Hope that holds true next weekend in Madison.

ATM shoulda' been flagged on every play?

Talk about sour grapes.

But yeah, the roughing the passer penalty was indeed bullshit.

But you know what? If Pelini doesn't act like a moron, that never gets called. Instead of blaming the refs, blame your dipshit coach. Refs are gonna' take that garbage out.

As I watched that, I literally said out loud "Get the fuck off the field."

- Seriously, I don't care if they are #8. We've beaten better and kept the fuck off the field.

- I realize they are bailing on the conference. Good riddance. Don't make yourself look like an ass by storming the field.

- Thanks, at least, for not being douchy enough to attempt to tear down goalposts and chuck them into the Nebraska section.

- I did stupid shit in college, but our brand of Ags these days is beyond asinine. They are an embarrasment. Rack them for showing up today, but other than that, grow the fuck up.

- Even if I was at the game that we won a national championship, I would take it in in the comfort of my seat and let the players and coaches revel in their accomplishment while I cheered them on.

Storming the field is not warranted under any circumstance ever.

Win 1 Wags. Win something.....win anything.... When you have won 1 Conference Championship you can run your cum dumpster. How many does Missouri have? Right. How many bad seasons has Missouri had in the Big XII? Right.

We have had 1 bad season since 1997. How many have you had again???? The sad thing is, we win on Thursday and we are in a bowl. We suck this year and we would still kick the shit out of Missouri.

Maybe storming the field when you win 8 games is cool for the Missouri Kitties, we don't do that at Texas. We save that for things that matter....you know, like winning Championships.....wait a second....you have never won one.....then keep on storming to ! your mediocrity.

Yes, wasn't that clear enough?

btw, he wasn't simply berating the refs. He was going postal and damn near spitting in their faces. I've never seen a head coach ejected in football, but that's as close as it comes. He had an unsportsmanlike conduct flag thrown against him and you don't see that very often either. And he deserved it.

Go ahead and lay down next week against CU, because you damn sure don't want to be playing in Dallas for the CCG. You'll be screwed before you get off the plane. You think Big XII refs are going to let you and your no class asshole coach waltz out the conference with a trophy? Get fucked.

Pelini did deserve that penalty. He said and I quote: "Fuck you! Fuck all of you!" Then the ref threw the flag.

He's admitted that he could control himself better, but when you have refs openly and blatantly skull fucking your team, it tends to piss you off. I was about to punch a hole in a wall and I'm not there in that environment.

Oh sure. Now that I've calmed down about the refs, there are a slew of baffling calls by our OC. Pelini even alluded to his disappointment in some of our calls in his very short PC after the game.

Bee Bee would be proud is right. Shitass conference. Congrats to Nebraska for being attractive enough to get the Big Ten to throw them a life preserver. Kinda jealous. Would have liked Mizzou to get away from HVAC colleges like K State.

Part of me wonders if Bo's tantrums will cost him recruits. Why would parents want to send their kids to that freak? Why would a young male want to have that jackass in their face? But they are Nebraska and there's got to be kids who will overlook the tantrums long enough to redshirt one year in Lincoln.

Stupid A&M win means bowls will be looking at them before Mizzou. We beat A&M and have a better record, but the old fucks who decide these things remember the A&M of recent decades. I sure do whine about bowl prestige a lot.

why couldn't Nebraska have played this poor against Missouri? Oh yeah, I remember now. We had our entire secondary at the line of scrimmage and let Roy Jr. go off for 300 yards on three carries.

Wags, You should be calling games this year for the Big 12. Seems you got the memo. Despicable....a mockery of the game. etc. And for you to suggest that it would be cool if Nebraska gets fucked by officiating to keep them out of the CCG just boggles my mind.

Props to the Aggies for playing their nuts off even if they had the game gift wrapped and handed to them. Shame on the Big 12. What a disgrace that league is becoming. Good riddance.

Here's some thoughts by By Matt Zemek

"Officiating should be avoided as a central source of a game’s outcome. Wading into the realms of bias, motivation and judgment calls is always murky and fraught with risk. Pointing out officiating disparities and errors will always invite the possibility that a given line of analysis will come across as whining or – in a different vein – an attempt to paper over a team’s genuine on-field deficiencies. There are very good reasons to steer clear of officiating as a main topic of postgame discussion.

However, there are always exceptions to this and many other commonly-accepted ideas which form the solid core of legitimate commentary on sporting events. The game between Nebraska and Texas A&M is one such case.

Let’s not try to pretend that the 16 penalties called against Nebraska, compared to just two for A&M, didn’t carry a disproportionate degree of impact in an even-steven and hard-fought defensive battle. Let’s not try to deny that the reality of Nebraska leaving the Big 12 didn’t loom over the proceedings at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. Does this mean there was a conspiracy? No. Let’s nip that in the bud. However, the words “appearance (or suggestion) of impropriety” will trip from a lot of lips Sunday and Monday morning. That’s not good for Dan Beebe’s image as the commissioner of a league that might not be long for this world.

Most importantly, let’s not ignore the woeful, this-cannot-possibly-be-true nature of the roughing-the-passer penalty called on Nebraska’s Courtney Osborne (what an ironic last name, eh?) late in the fourth quarter. The hit – which was not late, and which did not hit any part of A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s helmet – failed to meet any standard for a personal-foul penalty. It was as standard-issue a hit as anything seen on any gridiron in week 12. Yet, it drew a piece of yellow laundry, and it directly led to the Aggies’ game-winning field goal. It’s impossible to look at this game and not conclude that one call – a judgment call poorly arrived at and then unrevoked – decided the outcome. It’s not as though the Aggies made a good play or did anything to
