The level of pussiness on this team is breathtaking. What an embarassment to the illustrious history of Steeler football.
The Steelers wondered aloud this week if more should have been done to punish Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour for striking Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the face Sunday.

Seymour, who hit Roethlisberger with an open hand in the second quarter of the Raiders' 35-3 loss, was ejected immediately and fined $25,000 by the league for his actions.

Steelers receiver Antwaan Randle El told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Seymour's punishment would have been stiffer if he had hit Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

"It would have been a little more," Randle El told the Post-Gazette. "Or if one of our guys did it, there would have been more."

Fellow wideout Hines Ward went further. The Post-Gazette reported Thursday that Ward said on his local radio show Tuesday that Seymour would have been suspended if he had struck either Brady or Manning.

Ward would not comment on his radio show comments when asked by the Post-Gazette but told the paper that the NFL isn't "being consistent with all the fines and the calls."

Roethlisberger, asked if the ruling would have been different if his name were different, was frank in his response.

"We all know the answer to that one. Easy," Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette.

Seeing the crying baby pic, I guess I expected to see more actual crying from the Steelers in that piece.

I think the comments there are accurate.

If it had been Manning or Brady, Seymour would have been hit a lot harder.

I also agree that if it was a Steeler who had delivered that shot, the penalty would have been stiffer.
Shit, the zebras in that game hosed Pissburgh BADLY with three bogus "roughing" calls in the 1st half alone - obviously very mindful of a perception that the Steelers have been putting dangerous hits on folks.

You're a dumbshit....or you just haven't been paying attention to Steelers football. The refs have been SCREWING them hard since the Steelers-Browns game that James Harrison got lit up for by the league fine Nazis. They have every right to voice their opinions about what the league did to Seymour. He got off REAL easy....IMO it should've been a one-game suspension WITHOUT PAY. That would've given Seymour and just about any other clown in the league not named Bernard Pollard a clear message that dirty play won't be tolerated. Period.

Why? He is pretty much correct.

If Seymour punched out a bastard factory instead of a rapist, he would be sat down a game. No doubt in most anyones mind.

Dear God. Just when I thought Paul had KYOAed himself in every way possible, he comes up with something new.

You might want to make it two laps this time Paul.

And stop defending the Steelers. We have literate people capable of doing that.

No it is not. Reading leads to posting. And posting leads to self administered beatdowns. Paul would be better off were he a mute mongoloid. Come to think of it, so would we.

Probably. But the same qualities that make Harrison a less than ideal diplomat are what make him one of the most feared players in the NFL. Everything he has ever gotten he has had to work for and them some. He was an undrafted free agent coming out of Kent State in 2002 who was cut 4 times by two different teams before he finally caught on with the Steelers in 2004. He then had to sit behind Joey Porter until the 2007 season. He is a man whose very existence in the league was predicated on being the most intense and violent human being he could possibly be.

And NOW the league wants him to back down?

No, James Harrison will never be confused with Henry Kissenger. But when was the last time Henry Kissenger sacked a QB?

It's actually a job. Once people start paying you to play the game, it ceases to be "just a game."

I counted 3 head shots delivered to Pittsburgh players. I also counted zero flags for those hits. That includes the one that knocked out Heath Miller and the one that broke Ben Roethlisberger's nose. Nice to see that the NFL is doing their best to implement the rule book evenhandedly.

Based on what the zebras have been calling this year, and especially against Pitty, how the Crows were not flagged for the Miller hit, I'll never know.
Steelers were hosed there.

On the play where Ben got busted up, the zebras just may not have seen it.
The play was a little more subtle, but the result was devastating.
But yep, clearly a hit to the head/face.

I could almost see the one with Ngata. Except I've seen Harrison called for the exact same thing. There's an offical assigned full time to protect the QB on plays like that. Where the fuck was he?

Also, there was the play at the end of the game when Ben threw the ball away whilst being molested by Terrel Suggs like he was in a Georgia nightclub. There was no flag on that play despite it being in the open and Suggs clearly getting his hands up into Ben's face. Then again, I'm glad there wasn't a flag. A half the distance personal foul penalty might have been all it took for Arians to call 4 straight runs into the Ravens' run blitz. As it was, the Steelers scored the winning TD.
