24-0 at halftime. Normally I'd feel pretty confident but I saw wht happend to Alabama. We need a few more TDs.
A win tonight and Stanford should be able to jump Boise State and LSU. Maybe BCS #4 tomorrow?

11-1, and prolly a #4 BSC ranking.
Will there be a BCS bowl in the future?

Re: Stanford vs. Oregon State
Stanford's offense is a real pleasure to watch. Great balance between the pass and the running game, and Luck is so polished for a kid his age. He makes a few mistakes, but very few, and his ability to find the right receiver and put the ball in the right spot is uncanny. The defense is solid, as evidenced by three shutouts this year. They put pressure on the QB and they're good against both the pass and the run. The one weak point is team speed. The rest of the defensive scheme is able to compensate against most teams, but against Oregon they just couldn't keep up.
Stanford tends to build a lead in the first half and then coast. Oregon blows teams away in the second half after running them ragged. Stanford could probably beat any team in the country, or at least have an even chance, except Oregon. I think Oregon would beat them 9 out of 10 times or more, barring injuries.

Got the absolute living shit kicked out of them, and were pretty much made fools out of for a half.
Wouldn't that make them the "second most impressive team"?
Just sayin'.
I'm also sayin' I wouldn't crack on anyone for voting them into the #2 spot, since they're an extremely good team. It's just that I wouldn't call them "the most impressive team" when a higher ranked team ran practice drills on them and put in the scrubs by the end of the game.
And I think if there's any stupid tie-in bullshit that keeps Furd out of a BCS bowl, it's a travesty. TCU shouldn't be screwing Stanford out of their rightful spot in the Rose Bowl... not that TCU isn't worthy, but the Granddaddy is suppose to be for the PAC champ... who in this case, will be busy that week, so the #2 PAC team should represent, which Stanford would do quite nicely -- since they just kill fools all season.

Re: Stanford vs. Oregon State
You forgot the second half of Sam's post.....and a lot of people would agree with his statement. Oregon's offense is second to none, but their defense...not so much. Stanford appears to be a "more complete" team, just as Sam said.Other than the second half against Oregon, I haven't seen a more complete offensive/defensive team.
Re: Stanford vs. Oregon State
Absolutely correct, though I can see what Sam may be getting at.Dinsdale wrote:Sudden Sam wrote:Stanford has been the most impressive team I've seen this year.

Stanford is quite impressive in terms of playing "football" as we've all known it for so long.
Thing is, right now Oregon is playing a different game than everybody else. Not sure what happened against Kal, I didn't see that game.
A lot of folks are saying that Harbaugh should be "Coach of the Year", and he wouldn't be a bad choice. But what Chip Kelly has done, as far as matching a system to a group of players (and vice versa) is truly remarkable. I could see those kids, under a lot of other coaches, being completely out of control.
Spoken like a true Old School fan, and I couldn't agree more. If Stanford ends up #4 in the BCS they will (apparently) be an automatic BCS team, but probably in the Orange Bowl(?).I'm also sayin' I wouldn't crack on anyone for voting them into the #2 spot, since they're an extremely good team. The Rose Bowl should be a Pac 10 vs. Big 10 game, if at all possible. I could see if the #1 Pac 10 team was in the NCG and the next best was 9-3 or 8-4 they would want a better matchup. With Stanford #4 at 11-1 it makes sense. Will TCU bring more people? Possibly but who knows. It's all about money, which I understand but don't necessarily like.
Re: Stanford vs. Oregon State
Until Stanford showed up in Huckleberry Canyon, Kal's defense had absolutely dominated any offense that showed up to plat @Kal. They were getting shithammered on every road game, but were #1 in home-field defense, nationally (Furd fixed that for them).Mikey wrote:Not sure what happened against Kal, I didn't see that game.
Kinda a bizzarro Tedford team -- shitty QB play, can't run the ball, but plays wicked defense... did aliens kidnap Tedford and replace him with a look-alike?
