I only watched parts of the 1st half, but to read this cracks me up.......

Iowa rallied from a 20 point halftime deficit against Arizona to tie it up........and then missed the PAT to take the lead. Not that it matters because our defense is heartless and our offense can't run a 2-minute drill, so we ended up losing anyways.

I want to laugh at this, but I simply cannot because 2 of Iowa's losses were due to an inability to make PAT's. It's not as funny to those of us who root for teams that have problems in this area!

I should clarify.......

We SORTA lost 2 games because of an inability to kick a PAT/chip shot FG.

Against Arizona we tied it with 3 minutes to play and missed a PAT to take the lead. Against Wisconsin we missed a PAT AND a 28 yard fg (actually completely botched the snap, never even kicked it).....and lost by 1. Go figure!

Iowa has the worst special teams play in the country this year. Can't cover kickoffs, can't kick the damn ball past the 10 yard line, missed 3 or 4 PAT's, didn't make a long FG all year, can't return a punt, inconsistent on short FG's. DJK is a good kick returner and Donahue is a great punter, however.

A huge part of the reason is the number of injuries they had at the LB position (they used 10 LBs this year) when a lot of those guys would have been special teams players. Iowa might be deep at LB but they aren't THAT deep.

That's probably true, but it still doesn't explain what was up with the kicking game. Mossbrucker has a good leg but the coaches have no confidence in him- which is why Murray kicked the game winner against Penn State 2 years ago, and why he hardly saw the field this year. I don't think anyone has said what really went on with Murray's injury this year. Did he die!? Not that he was a great kicker but he was clutch and was just about automatic on the short field goals. Myer just can't kick. His kickoffs don't go beyond the 10 yard line and he's a coinflip to make a freakin 30 yarder!
