I that it's pretty clear that the top performer this season has been Cam Newton.
The first sentence of the Heisman Trust's "Mission Statement" is this:
"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."
Some people are apparently having a problem with the "integrity" part:
Here's Bianchi's written explanation of why Newton didn't make his ballot:
Hate to say I told you so, but I've never been more secure about my decision to leave Cam Newton off my Heisman ballot than I was a few days ago. That's when the NCAA determined that, yes, Newton's father Cecil, a preacher in Atlanta, shopped his son in a pay-for-play scheme before Newton signed with Auburn. Do I need to remind everyone of the "integrity" clause in the Heisman's mission statement? It says, "The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."
That's right, it says the pursuit of excellence with "INTEGRITY." And, yet, here we have Cam Newton, a player who left the University of Florida amid allegations of academic fraud and after he was found with a stolen laptop computer and threw it out the window when police arrived; a player whose recruitment is being investigated by the NCAA and the FBI; a player whose father Cecil, according to the NCAA, tried to sell his son's services to the highest bidder (but, um, Cam supposedly knew nothing about it.).
If Newton wins the Heisman, the trophy should be recast in honor of Cam's dad. The guy on top of trophy shouldn't have his arm out; he should have his hand out

Ezekiel 18:20
20 “The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.
Quoting the Bible on a college football message board? Even the racists over on CDS think that's lame.....
If you really believe the dad was involved and Cam knew nothing about it..........I got some invisible land I would like to sell you, Jsc.

Are you really this stupid?
Did his dad cheat on his schoolwork for him? Did his dad give him a stolen computer?
It wouldn't matter because the term eligible in this case is completely ambiguous and means whatever the NCAA wants it to mean. Despite the fact that the final decision contradicts what's actually written in the handbook.

That makes him a crook by association. Religious nutjobs are such scum. I don't care what religion you are. If you're a pastor, Rabbi, whatever the fuck they call a dude that runs a Muslim service..........there's a 90% chance you are a hypocrite and a scam artist.
'tis why I will never step foot in a church unless it's for a wedding.
I threw that in 'cause Cam and Chizik are always tossing God into every conversation. It's nasty.
Religion has NO place in 4 areas.......
Sports, politics, social settings, and the work place.
If you incorporate your religious beliefs into discussions in those settings........you are a god damn toolbag.
And for those of you that are nutjob conservatives........save your "liberal" stereotype. I'm not even close to being liberal. I tend to lean slightly to the right. But that doesn't mean I have to be a racist, religious nutjob. Those types of idiots give conservatives a bad name. Just like the tree hugging hippies, lesbos in PETA, and Keith Olbermann and her boyfriend Rachel Maddow, give liberals a bad name.
The word is that Cam was about to get nailed for cheating, saw the writing on the wall and split before they could discipline him, which might have affected him going forward. Typical SEC bullshit.

Right. But...where did that info come from? The school can't release info like that, can they?
Oh hell no the school can't leak that info. That's against the law. UF would be in deep shit.
But somebody obviously associated with Florida or Cam Newton has already leaked the basic part of the story- which is illegal. Newton admitted it is true. Okay, he didn't come out and say it, but the 'ol Mark McGwire defense is good enough for me. Turned out 'ol Marky Mark was juiced, didn't it?
I am interested to find out who did leak the story about his cheating scandal at Florida. Originally it was thought to be Urban Meyer but there is no way Urban is that dumb. He could go to jail for that. So it couldn't have been him.

By the way, the computer was tipped to a fellow Tiger by a kid from Spartanburg who was passing by.
He may be the happiest, smilingest, God-liest sumbitch around, but he ain't an honest kid and he comes from a family whose honesty is questionable at best.
didn't realize gossip was now part of heisman criteria.
suppose all you good christian folk down south could have recast this as a story of redemption: 18-year-old cam newton fucks up, toils at shitty jc, then makes the most of his second chance.
It all comes down to how stupid the Trust wanrs to look.
Do they really want to have 2 Stiffarms taken back and left vacant in less than a decade?
$cam Knewnothing WILL be declared ineligible -- just a matter of waiting for the FBI to finish up (could take a while).
Dude's church (churches) are condemned, needing a bahzillion dollars worth of repairs... and a buhzillion magically appears, and fixes everything, in perfect timing with the pay-for-play?
Now South, I realize that y'all sometimes struggle to grasp the basics of the language, but north of the Mason-Dixon, we refer to anyone who's buying this as "stupid," for your edification (that means "a'book-lernin").
BTW - enjoy your final game as a football program, Auburn. One team is playing for the Crystal Football, the other is playing for some trophy they call "Vacated."

Interesting. You don't think LaMichael would come in second (or first if Cam explodes), though?
Luck was named offensive player of the year in the Pac 10 today.
Of course that may just be a case of BABSH
(Bay Area Ball Sucking Homerism).
The U&L is constantly being dissed in the Pac 10.
Or it could be a racial thing.
We like our black players out here, and we really do appreciate their efforts.
But we don't want them fucking our women or winning any major awards.
Papa Willie wrote:Okay - I'll state this and again (for the record).
I would say that Cam did take the money. I would say he probably took more money from Auburn than he & his dad asked for at Mississippi State. I would also say that what he got was probably pretty much in line with what 5 star recruits from every other big school got as well - including such players as Luck, LaMichael, Reggie Bush and so on and so on.
If for one second any of you thinks that your school doesn't do it, you've grown a crop in your anus, and you are vigorously irrigating it with your own tongue.
It's how it's been done, and it's how it will always be done. You think these coons are going to these schools for an education? Sorry. They decide on which schools pay them the most money and offer them the best perks (not the little guy).
The key is NOT to get caught. We'll see if Cam gets caught. If he does - he does.
Now that THIS is out of the way, Cam deserves the Heisman because he's just a lot fucking better player than any of the other said players.
I just love it when you get all cynical and shit. Makes me want to go eat some pie.

he should have gotten "hit of the year" for this
Luck is a fucking football player
Can't get YouTube at work but I'm assuming that was the one vs. Cal.
He had a few more highlight worthy hits this season making tackles after turnovers.
One, in the Oregon game, after his receiver got flattened and Oregon recovered the ball he chased the guy down for about 50 yards, navigated about half a dozen blockers and knocked him out of bounds a few yards short of the endzone. An ultimately futile effort but it showed some definite balls.
After watching every PAC team this season, it's quite possible Luck is the second-best NFL QB prospect in the conference.
Foles is a better passer... he's just a little on the skinny side for the pros.
Don't get me wrong, Luck is a better CFB player, but Foles is more of a "pro-style" pocket passer, and is more accurate (they both have excellent %, but Foles never freaking misses).
