This is worse than SECBSHism.

Reminds me of this bullshit when t.u. played U$C for the championship:

This. in 2008, state of Oklahoma had the same deal at this time of year. OU playing in the BCS game, OSU in the top 15 heading to the Holiday Bowl. OU loses to UF (still really wish Demarco Murray had played), OSU blows a double digit first Q lead to lose to Oregon.

Nope. Sorry.

Quack! Quack!
Your Auburn/SEC tooting seems genuine. Your denials, not so much.

SECTard being SECTard.

Gee, I wonder how Fuskies fans feel about Oregon being the the Trinket Bowl?

Let's see -- we have newspaper columns already celebrating both the championship and their state's greatness (nevermind that Alabama is the laughingstock of the country -- Nevada thinks you suck).

We of course have the oft-repeated "this shit be a religion around here!!!"... uhm, ever heard of places like Columbus Ohio and Lincoln, Nebraska? No, Toothless ones, you didn't invent football -- a very Yankee sport, and you dipshits were a little too preoccupied chasing off Them Thar Revenoooooers to not be late to the party.

That's what's so awesome about SECBSH... they really can't help it.

I'm going to let you in on something that you don't seem to grasp, but is painfully obvious to the rest of the country...

CFB isn't your "religion" -- Stupidity is.

I'm not suggesting you've got your loyalties mixed up, but you should probably stop denying the fact you use the team you hate so much as a vehicle to prop your conference, your state, whatever the case may be. Your defenses are one thing, your actions are another.

I'm not bagging on you over gravy training Auburn, I'm bagging on you because you can't admit what everyone else sees as painfully obvious. Your hand's caught in the cookie jar, and your response is "Nope. Sorry." Puhlease.
No way in hell any Auburn fan wanted Bama to win last year and there sure as hell ain't no way any Alabama fans could stand for Auburn to win this year.
But it won't stop you clowns from claiming BODE by proxy when the situation calls for it. Sort of like this article you linked, eh?

Dude, the day that UDub plays a SEC team in the MNC game (probably won't happen), I'll be the first one to stand up and chant...

"SEC! SEC! SEC!"

Anyone else in the PAC, no prob. UDub? Not on your life. If they won the MNC, I'd scream from the mountaintops about how bad the PAC sucks if Washington won it.

I don't really give a shite who's pulling for who. Pulling for a team to win a game and starting "look how awesome we are!" threads without provocation are two different things. One is normal behavior, the other gets you universally mocked.

I'm just giving Sam shit for talking out of both sides of his mouth, is all. He puts on his cheerleader outfit and posts these threads, but only when he's called out on it does he revert to the, "Nope, that's not what's going on. Nothing to see here." At least Jsc owns up to his genuine ballsucking ways. Sneaky Sam tries to skirt around it.

Since you veered off topic, there's one thing I'd like to address...
just about everybody in here will pull for another team that's in their conference that will ultimately make their team look better
This year I'll be pulling for TCU and Mississippi State. I'm pulling for Iowa to win by 40 just to see JON's head explode after his team inexplicably "shows up" to play a lowly 10-2 squad.

Also, yes, there's something to be said about conference perception benefiting your team, since perception drives college football. One need look no further than the SEC. It doesn't take much for a shit ass Mississippi State team with no winning history or tradition to crack the top 25. A few wins over Directional Tech A&M, Vandy, and Kentucky, sprinkled with a few "tough" losses to SEC powerhouses will pretty much do the trick.

The flip side to that argument is when a bunch of teams in your conference are kicking ass, they pose a greater threat to your team's recruiting base. If Michigan is back to BCS bowls in a few years, I'm not sure how that benefits my team, considering that'd probably mean MSU is getting worked in in-state recruiting.

Provocation?

One needs provocation to start a thread extolling the virtues of Alabama football?

I think not.

seriously, everything mgo said. the only reason any of us come across as ***BSH is because all your idiotic "SEC, SEC, SEC!" makes us defend our middling teams by pointing out they're not much different than the SEC's middling teams. I really only care about the big ten's bowl record after i've spent the entire bowl season rooting against most of the teams. Here's my BSH rooting interests for the big ten's bowl games:

wisconsin vs. tcu: normally fall asleep while watching wisconsin so generally don't care one way or the other. like the small school vibe so would normally pull for tcu but will probably stick money on wisconsin at +3.

ohio state vs. arkansas: fuck ohio state. also, fuck justin boren. mallet may have peaced out on dickrod's michigan but at least he had a better excuse than "dickrod wouldn't let me skip practice to mow lawns with my dad." plus, mallet just left without saying much other than thanks for the opportunity. there were behind-the-scenes rumblings that he was upset dickrod didn't beg him to stay, but this was an amicable breakup and didn't involve any bs about "family values" the press could write about, as if elliot mealer never happened.

michigan state vs. alabama: fuck sparty. usually i'd root for them because they deserve a bone every so often, but now that dantonio looks as if he's built a consistent winner i have to start hoping they quietly gfy.

iowa vs. mizzou: haven't figured out how i want this to play out since that all depends on the people here. sort of like the kc crew rocking out with a bit of schadenfreude, but the obvious baller here is jon. probably not a whole lot of satisfaction if they lose just because he'll be all, "who fucking cares: half the team's in jail and half the others just don't care about shitty bowl games because things were better when we went to the rose bowl every year," so i guess i'm hoping for iowa to pull out a close win so he can get a running start into next year's flip, where iowa is now a great team because of clutch plays rather than a shitty team who can put away arkansas state.

illinois vs. baylor: fuck illinois. they're the big ten's mizzou. baylor has a black qb with dreads, so i'm kind of partial to them.

northwestern vs. texas tech: i'll be asleep.

penn state vs. florida: penn state because i hate all florida schools.

michigan vs. miss state: michigan because fuck the sec.

so i'm rooting for the big ten to have a 3-4 record with one don't-give-a-fuck toss-up. your head explodes every week an sec team plays another sec team.

Hear ya, Spray.

I'm allowed to dis on UDub, and it's expected. When SECBHS does it, I take offense.

I've said it many times -- I want to attend an Iron Bowl before I die.

That way, I can see if it's as nasty as Oregon/UDub (along with many other reasons, #1 being that I worship at the Altar of CFB). See, Oregon/OS is a "rivalry." But they're our friends, neighbors, and relatives. Makes it a "friendly rivalry." But UDub? Ain't no "friendly" about it -- we hate them, they hate us. It's mean, it's nasty, and it's fun.

Wanna see how tough you are? Wear some Oregon gear in Seattle -- those fuckers like to fight, and that's all the excuse they need.

True, but I tempered my disgust with the thought that bama had to spend 12 mil on a coach to get that MNC.

AU will have a bargain if Chizik pulls it off.

The Wal Mart trophy display of The Bama Faithful was sweet solace, also. Hopefully Auburn will step up to a Target store at least.

You think the fact that Wal Mart sells a lot of bammer gear might have something to do with it?

I hear the velvet Saban is available for Christmas orders.

Comes with a commemorative shot glass.

hey, Sam, is Watson Brown still at UAB as AD or something?

just curious, since WB was both a mediocre OC for Gary Gibbs at OU and a former HC at Vandy. for some reason, my life-course in the 90's was fated alongside Watson B.

ask any OU fan about the lame ass misdirection, goal-line call in the 1994 RRS on the last play of the game. Or: conversely, ask any UT fan about Stoney Clark. this is the end of the end for Gary Gibbs. 1-5 against UT. 1-5 against NU. winless and a tie against Colorado.

here ya go: score is 17-10, UT. 4th Q, 4th down and goal. .40 on the gameclock. UT cannot stop OU RB Jerald Moore, so Watson plays this cute end-around to James Allen. total conceit, i'll outsmart them by going against what is working.....(ref: Chuck Long in the 03 Sugar Bowl, the career of Shawn Watson at CU/NU). Stoney Clark, who cares....there are 5 UT players that are taking turns to tackle Allen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivHQ487NWnA

my dad once said: "the thing about Watson, when his plays work....they look like mistakes."

Agreed! I hope he has good luck at Ga. State. They did pretty good for a first year team until they had to play 'Bama. :D
Big fan of BC.

On Mike and Mike, Mike Greenberg asked BC "You're widely known as a football coach. Not many people know you were once a player, but your success has been in coaching. When all is said and done, did you enjoy playing or coaching more? "

BC's answer, "When I go to sleep at night, I don't dream about coaching."

Love his one-liners.
