Dinsdale, this is not a
literal issue at all.
The issue is that there is a
very fundamental point of understanding of the Bible which you must not be aware of.
That point is this: When Christ came, died on the cross and resurrected, everything was finished IN HIM.
That includes the Law which God had given to the Israelites - part of which you cited.
Christians are not called to obey the Law which God gave to the Israelites.
We are simply called to have faith in Christ, who finished everything.
You can read for yourself.
Romans 10:1-4, 9
[1]
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
[2] For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
[3] For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
[4] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Paul, writing in Romans, is lamenting over the Jews (of which he is one) - who think they can have righteousness and salvation by following the Law.
But Christ is the CONCLUSION of the Law and a man's righteousness and salvation is
only found when he places his faith in Him.
The law was given for a time, and for a purpose -----> to ultimately bring people to Christ.
