Guess after that incestual buttrape by Miss St. and all the Harbaugh talk, he figured he'd get the shredder fired up before his departure.ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez returned to work Monday, two days after a bowl game loss that heightened speculation about his future with the Wolverines.
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon plans to meet with Rodriguez soon and expects to have something to say about the situation later this week.
Rodriguez's third season ended Saturday with a school-record 38-point loss to Mississippi State. It dropped his overall record to 15-22 with college football's winningest program.
Messages seeking comment were left for Rodriguez on Monday.

What must his day be like? I bet it's wierd going to work, knowing you're getting canned and trying to go about business as usual. So he see's Brandon in the hallway and they make that awkward eye contact...morning coach, morning David....c'mon!! Is this a dead period for recruiting? If not, is he calling guys? Telling them he'll be there or somewhere else? Is he really selling Michigan to anyone he talks to right now? Gotta be tough. I still think he's a good coach, just not at a UM. Word was that he had already had a phone interview with another school (Maryland or Clemson) so he knows he's done.

The Maryland job is already taken. Maybe he could go to UConn.

Re: Guess it is shredder time in Michigan...
I read somewhere he may be going to Pitt. Back to the Big Least where he can get back to the BCS regularly...oops, never mind with TCU joining it now.
In any case, he's probably doing the same thing I've done. When I left Texas to move to Indiana, I knew I was leaving before I told them. At my company there as is in many places, it is common practice to be walked to the door as soon as you give your notice. So, once I accepted my offer in Indiana, I began making copies of files I would want/need. I have a very technical job so I wanted all my training documents, my technical documents and a lot of the work I did for the company as reference. If they knew I took it, they'd be pissed, but it was my work I did for them, and I wanted it if I needed it. I cleared my laptop hard drive of everything I had on there that was personal. I packed up a box of all my personal shit right before I went to my boss's office to give my 2 weeks notice.
Of course, that's where the similarity between RR and I may end...
Of course, I shocked the shit out of them that I was leaving. I wasn't walked to the door. Rather, they began a massive knowledge transfer process for me. My damn boss was booking 14 hour days for me to work with someone to transfer knowledge. I simply told him after working 18 months of 16 hour days, I would give him 8 hour days for the last 2 weeks to transfer knowledge as I had a lot at home I needed to prepare for the move or he could give me 2 weeks severance with no knowledge transfer.

Seems to me that if they paid you to create all of these documents, they own them. I think if they knew you took them, they could have had you arrested.IndyFrisco wrote:So, once I accepted my offer in Indiana, I began making copies of files I would want/need. I don't doubt that. It was a risk I was taking I know. I didn't rip off everything I ever did for them, but I had finished a 2 year long project that was very similar to the type of work I was going to be starting on in my new position. Certain books, white papers, training materials, etc. that I either created, read or training I attended would be greatly needed in helping me hit the ground running in my new position. I didn't say it was ethical or even legal, just that I did it to prepare for my next job. None of it was government secrets or anything. If I got caught and they found out, I'd give it back. I would not have gotten prison time. Probably would have just lost a reference.Goober McTuber wrote:Seems to me that if they paid you to create all of these documents, they own them. Why would it be SOP to escort someone out as soon as they put in their two weeks? I've never worked for a company that did that (well, I bet the Skins would do that). Hell at my shop, all they ask is that you return your mop before you leave. How nice, they're screwing you out of two weeks pay.

Actually, the way it was there, I would have gotten one week pay for every year of service if they terminated me as part of their severance package so I would have gotten 6 weeks pay if they walked me to the door.Screw_Michigan wrote:Why would it be SOP to escort someone out as soon as they put in their two weeks? The reason it was SOP in my job was because I held some heavy keys to a worldwide ERP system. Many companies take that pretty seriously for higher-ups on the technical ladder leaving the company. I was not leaving for a competitor. I was not leaving because I was disgruntled. I was leaving for family reasons. If they walked me to the door, they pay me 6 weeks for nothing. I gave 2 weeks notice to transfer knowledge of a system I architected that was just complete and no one else to help support it once I left. I had the leverage on the pay side of it. I wasn't about to work 14 hour days on a job I was leaving as "charity" to my company.

Re: Guess it is shredder time in Michigan...
I believe in many states, if you give your notice and they decide to terminate you because of the notice/taking of another job, they owe you those two weeks.
A lot of technical jobs will escort you out due to trade secrets, etc. When I worked for Ford, any of the engineers that decided to leave were escorted out of the building as soon as they gave their notice. Sales jobs are similar in this regard. Good buddy of mine was a director of recruiting at a very large firm and as soon as he told his supervisor he was leaving to do something similar at a competitor, they gave him 1 hour to clean all of his shit and get out. That 1 hour was also supervised by a security guard as well as his supervisor.
It’s really pointless. As Indy pointed out, people who want to take shit with them plan to do so well in advance.

heck, why not. Darrell Royal was an All-American for Bud W. and the most successful coach Texas has ever had.Sudden Sam wrote:How nice would that be? RichRod at Pitt...playing West Virginia on a regular basis?! Wow. Will they even let him back into West Virginia?
If i'm Pitt, I stay away from RR. too many red flags. Edsall, for instance, would have been a nice play. Pitt is a more of a step up than Maryland.

Re: Guess it is shredder time in Michigan...
The reason the defense was so bad was because his DCordinator from WVU didn’t come with him, and DickRod stayed married to the stupid 3-3-5. He went out and hired a bright DC, only to have him run that dumb ass defense. “Hey James Cameron, I want to hire you to direct my movie, but it has to be a romantic comedy.”

Re: Guess it is shredder time in Michigan...
Is Michigan really going to fire DickRod after the Outback Bowl? That just doesn't make sense. If you are going to fire him because of a loss in a 2nd-tier bowl game, your AD has some serious issues. You either fire the guy before the bowl game or you keep him. Had Michigan won the game, what exactly would that win have done for their program? 8-5 vs 7-6 is the difference between retaining a coach and firing him? Really???

Re: Guess it is shredder time in Michigan...
No, it wouldn't. But waiting until 1/1/11 dropped the payout by $1.5M. And firing him before does nothing but hamper any chance with their top target.
