Rich Rod out?
Looks like Meatchicken fan's prayers have been answered. Can't believe how much he fucked up while at UM. I really thought he was a good coach at WV, but what do I know.

UConn is hiring Rich. You'll fit right in in Ct. We got a few bazillion rodriquezes in just hartford alone.

The fury of Dick Rod's wake is getting Neuheisel-esque.
Re: Rich Rod out?
I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing TSUN pull in the big fish on this new hire. As much as I've enjoyed whipping that ass the past seven years, these last few under Rodriguez have not even been competitive. We'll continue to dominate the rivalry, but at least TSUN can return to relevance sometime soon. Maybe.

His paternal grandfather is from Spain. He doesn't self-identify as Hispanic.smackaholic wrote:UConn is hiring Rich. You'll fit right in in Ct. We got a few bazillion rodriquezes in just hartford alone.
In other words, he's the mvscal of BTPCF coaches.

It seems like they've contacted everyone BUT DickRod.MuchoBulls wrote:I am hoping that Pitt has contacted him
Seems like they're down to Tom Bradley and Sal Sunseri.

So if Bradley bolts for Pitt, who will be Penn State's head coach next year?

Re: Rich Rod out?
If Bradley gets the Pitt job, the next question will be whether or not he'll bring any other assistants with him.
Galen Hall has one foot in retirement land. He has said numerous times that he will leave when Joe leaves. He does not perform a full slate of coaching duties at PSU, and hasn't since he returned to State College...so coaching outside of the Paterno nest is not possible for Galen.

Galen Hall has to be a million years old. not JoePa old, but old. He was a Switzer OC in the 70's. HC at Florida in the 70's too.

I know Schiano's name was linked to PSU, but would they still look at him after downward turn that Rutgers has taken and might be on for a little bit.

Re: Rich Rod out?
Galen Hall is a former PSU QB. Joe Paterno was his position coach back at the dawn of time.
Hall got into some trouble at UF, and bounced around a bit afterward. Paterno hired him in 2004 to help his son learn a few things and to help Galen with a paycheck and secure employment. Galen doesn't recruit, he doesn't interact all that much with players, etc. He'll retire with Joe.

Re: Rich Rod out?
I thought Galen inherited the trouble at UF from Pell?

Re: Rich Rod out?
He did, but he created his own as well. Not nearly as bad as Pell but enough to be asked to resign.MuchoBulls wrote:I thought Galen inherited the trouble at UF from Pell?
Go Bucs, Gators
Re: Rich Rod out?
The party line here is that he gave a player money because he needed it. Galen was his sweet tits sugar mammy.

Re: Rich Rod out?
Minor nit, but I thought his tenure at Florida was in the 80's. I lived in Jacksonville from December 86 to July 90, and heard his name bandied about quite a bit during the first half of that time frame.King Crimson wrote:Galen Hall has to be a million years old. not JoePa old, but old. Re: Rich Rod out?
Gaylen Hall sat in the HC chair until Florida was off probation, that's when Spurrier came in.

Re: Rich Rod out?
you are correct. GH was an assistant at OU until 83 when Switzer made a bunch of staff changes after 7 and 8 win seasons in 82 and 83 (that almost cost him his job, Vermeil just off the Super Bowl was the big rumor to have been interested). and went to UF as OC first. So, he wasn't replacing Pell until after that. He does have 2 MNC "rings" at OU and the distinction of being an O coach for both Billy Sims and Emmett Smith. Two guys who were pretty good.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Minor nit, but I thought his tenure at Florida was in the 80's. I don't think he's officially "come out," but it's not like everyone doesn't already know.
Everyone at tOSU sure did, anyway.
