Adam Robinson and his mommy are mounting a media blitz to state a case for Iowa to allow him to be reinstated to the team next season. They had a meeting with all of the local media over the weekend and Robinson said he was returning for the second semester and hoped that he could prove himself to Kirk Ferentz by improving his academics and staying out of trouble. His mother went so far as to say, or at least infer, that the two concussions he suffered during the season led to Robinson's marijuana use. The next excuse was that he was a victim of circumstances and would not have been dismissed from the team if it weren't for the arrest of DJK for drug charges and that, had Robinson's arrest happened in a different year, he would have been disciplined but not dismissed.
I'm watching this on the evening news and saying "bullshit". This kid was riding around with a drug dealer in Des Moines when he was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and I seriously doubt this was his first contact with the guy. Robinson sat out the first quarter of the Ohio State game for what Ferentz termed "academic indigestion", was suspended from the team for the Insight Bowl for "failure to live up to team policies"........believed to be further academic issues, but could also have had something to do with a failed drug test. He was then arrested the day before the Insight Bowl and was kicked of the team after they returned to Iowa City.
Bottom line is that no one knows what all of the violations might have been for Ferentz to deem the marijuana arrest to be the last straw but, personally, I think Robinson was in more hot water than what was revealed to the press. The Des Moines media loves this kid because he's from Des Moines and I think it's pretty chickenshit for Robinson to take his problems to the media in an attempt to mount public support for his return to the team. Hopefully, Ferentz will stick to his guns and not give in to any pressure from the media and then help Robinson transfer to another school. Robinson made some poor decisions and now it's time to face the consequences.

You guys need him, you should probably take him back. Quit acting like you’re better than Ohio State.

I can't argue that they "need him" but they can also get by without him. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like youi're better than Ohio State", but if you're talking about suspending/dismissing players for violations, then, yeah, I hope we're better than Ohio State in doing the right thing.Goober McTuber wrote:You guys need him, you should probably take him back. Re: Adam Robinson to return to Iowa???
If A-Rob is sincere - bring him back.
There are players on the team that have done more than him - including the coach's son - that didn't get the boot. If he gets his grades up this semester, Ferentz should bring him back on a zero tolerance policy. If he gets decent enough grades, stays out of trouble, he should be allowed back on the team. One screw-up academically or with the law and he's gone for good.
I can believe him with the struggling to study following a concussion. That's not as silly of an excuse as some people probably think.
