I'm pretty sure the "staunch" opposition to the proposed 18 game schedule is just a bargaining chip and they'll cave pretty quick on it if the revenue pie stays pretty close to current structure.

I'm also 100% there will be a rookie salalry cap and the owners will give into increasing the minimum roster size.
I could also see the owners agreeing to a longer term health plan (current is 5 years after retirement ) and reducing the OTA.

The current revenue split is 60% to the players - I'm thinking they will settle around 50-52%

Why would the players ever agree to get fucked up that ass like that? Do you honestly expect them to take a 10% cut in revenue and play two extra regular season games? That would be a horrible deal.

Really? Have you seen their books? I don't doubt that a number of small market teams are struggling. They've got a lot of overhead and most of the value of these teams is in equity not liquid assets.

A rookie salary cap makes sense for both sides so I don't see that as particularly controversial. The "take a paycut and play more games" is a non-starter.

1. The rookie Salary cap - it means more money goes to the veteran players. Meaning that while they may be giving back a % of total revenues the impact on their checks may be minimal

And since they're not in the union with a vote, it's easy to vote for.

First of all WAR EAGLE! Second of all, my point is that the common fan will likely feel VERY alienated by a work stoppage with all the money floating around the NFL. Whether or not I contribute a dime is irrelevant. 3rd of all, why don't we ask the NHL how well a work stoppage plays out for the greater good of the sport?
