Let's talk Prompt Global Strike

I'm trying to get my filthy hands on a report that was released by the White House on Conventional Prompt Global Strike. If you mongoloids don't know about it, it's a missile defense program that is supposed to be able to hit any target on the planet (say Osama in a cave) in an hour with surgical precision and with conventional warheads, not nuclear, so we don't set off World War III. Problem is if we hit a missile launcher in Pyongyang by sending one of these missiles over Russia, they won't have time to think and could overreact with disastrous consequences. There is significant debate going on over which would be a better way to deploy this program, via air or sea, and Congress is skeptical on if the conventional warhead approach will even work.

Just wondering if any you guys know about this shit. It's pretty interesting the more I read about it. This is a very controversial program. Here is some reading material:

no need to lob it over the russkies. wee could chuck it from a sub 10 miles off their coast or other sea platform. Could also launch it from any one of many pieces of real estate we have in the pacific.

One problem with that train of thought is that if Russia or China think we are lobbing nuclear warheads (instead on conventional warheads as planned) they won't have the time to verify and will start chucking nukes in response. We can't control that.

Also, some believe you need the THREAT of nuclear warhead use for deterrence. Conventional warheads don't pack the same threat.

I think we ought to maintain our current military capability to address realistic foreign threats. But for fuck sake we should stop building this kind of shit. Nothing good is going to come from it.

Why not -- if we're going to run UAVs, might as well be jet powered.

Not sure UGVs are nearly as effective, but what the heck. Seen one, up close and personal -- pretty macho. Rattling off a machine gun at 65MPH via a TV screen might tend to result in some dead civilians, but fuck it, if we're going to make war into a video game, don't do it halfass.
