When you have to borrow money with a bond issue to cover a current deficit. You are broke. If you do not cut spending the 165 million dollar bond issue this week will be a 250 million dollar issue later this year and billions piled on billions in years to come. This is not an opinion. It is an immutable fact. It has been happening to states all across the country. It's much easier to break the debt cycle when you're only 165 million in the hole.

First of all, bitter little autobot, I don't work in the public sector. I have a very nice IT job in the private sector. BTW, I passed on a comparable public sector job because the pay wasn't as good. Secondly, Wisconsin, due to their excellent credit rating will be able to get this handled. Feel free to refute any of the other points made in the article instead of trying split hairs on the word "broke".

So I owe $120,000 on my house, and I have $10,000 in the bank. Am I broke?

No, I don't, but I do know that he said he has been paying on a mortgage for most of his adult life, so I think it's safe to say that he has at least some equity in his home.
