What, no love for the old battle axe?

First flight
August 30, 1984 – September 5, 1984
Last flight
February 24, 2011 - March 9, 2011
Number of missions 39
Crews 246
Time spent in space 365 days, 12 hours, 53 minutes, 34 seconds
Number of orbits 5,830
Distance travelled 148,221,675 mi

Satellites deployed 31 (including Hubble Space Telescope)
Would that any of the junk we've pissed off gazillion$ on would have performed as marvelously.

Interestingly, Discovery was the "return to space" vehicle of choice after both the Challenger and Colombia disasters. They must've had a lot of faith in that bitch.

and

"Great Balls of Fire"

Are all shuttle crews made up of the same demographic?

It looks like a requirement.

4 white dudes, 1 black dude, and 2 women.
