AT&T swallowing T-Mobile
In a $39 billion aquisition, making AT&T the largest cell phone service provider over Verizon. This after there was talk of Sprint buying out T-Mobile.
Do any of you dipshits have AT&T? If so, how's the service?
I've used T-mobile since 2001 and am quite satisfied, not sure I want to deal with AT&T. For starters, I'd have to get 3 new phones... not that that's a big deal as the wife and daughter already churn through cell phones like PSU does Fruit of the Looms, but still.

Uhm...
do us a favor, and never talk technology again.
TIA
One of my best friends does huge amounts of work for T-Mobile (as a subcontractor). Hope he doesn't get fucked out of the deal. Although I think T-M spent way too much money on new call centers for ATT to fuck with the setup too much, so hopefully it's business as usual.

Not surprising when seeing "swallowing" in the thread title as to who the 1st respondent was.

They use different signals, is my limited understanding.

have also heard tmobile is dropping web service for sidekick users. these suckers paid 3-4 hundred for their sidekicks and will only be able to use it to call and text..just checked what the sidekick lx is going for on ebay, about $30-$50.

"T-Mobile began sending out letters to Sidekick users explaining the cut-off and the offer. Existing Sidekick users -- if they so wish -- will still be able to make calls and send and receive text messages as of June 1, but that's about it. Mobile web services will not work, and most personal data, like contacts and calendar info, will be wiped after the device power cycles" (http://www.dailytech.com/TMobile+Offers ... e21054.htm)mvscal wrote:No, they didn't.Onions wrote:have also heard tmobile is dropping web service for sidekick users. these suckers paid 3-4 hundred for their sidekicks

Re: AT&T swallowing T-Mobile
I'm holding out for Dins explaining why I won't need new phones should this merger go thru... with various U&L asides of his experience erecting cell phone towers while he fucked a skank in his spare time.KC Scott wrote:The level of stupid in this thread is approaching critical mass
Is that too much to ask?
Re: AT&T swallowing T-Mobile
Wags..the merger is a best a year away..by then you'll be offerered new replacement phones I am sure. A lil early to sweat it out, I suggest working ATT over to the extreme and getting a bunch of free shit. Start by calling in now and getting all worked up. T-Mobile people are pretty cool but by the time you hit ATT Customer Service I can guaranfuckingtee "Bob" in Bengali won't give two shits what your problem is. Can you hear me now?... :D
Re: AT&T swallowing T-Mobile
T-Mobile had the worst coverage in this area.
They will have the best after the merger.

I'll start with a basic one, and we can go from there.War Wagon wrote:

How about for staters, by the time the deal goes through, then the sheer scope of reworking the towers happens, the battery in your phone will be junk.
And since the deal isn't even approved yet, any rumors on what's going to happen with the frequencies and whatnot lies somewhere between "speculation" and "urban legend."
But if you're really worried, my close friend is in frequent contact with a bigwig in T-M field operations (since he works for him, you know, that U&L thing), and when they actually know anything concrete, I'll let you know.

Same here, that's the reason why we dropped them and switched to Verizon some time ago.Carson wrote:T-Mobile had the worst coverage in this area.
