The Fiesta Bowl fiasco has been front page news (literally) here in PHX for the past few days, but the local fishwrap broke the story, so it's not surprising. I was kinda surprised not to see a thread in here yet. Is this getting much coverage nationally?
I could link to few lengthy articles, but it basically amounts to Fiesta Bowl CEO John Junker and his cronies living high on the hog on all of that "non-profit" money. I mean, ridiculous shit, like $1,200 strip club tabs, multiple golf club memberships, a $13k wedding, free tickets and junkets for state legislators, etc. Junker got shitcanned, of course, and a few others resigned.
The big question is, is this going to blow up the BCS? I don't really know that much about the people/companies behind the other bowls, but if you looked hard enough, you'd could probably find plenty of shady shit going on. I'd be very surprised if the Fiesta Bowl was just some renegade outfit in an otherwise reputable coalition. They're the relative new kids on the block. The "good ol' boys" at the Orange, Rose and Sugar are probably just better at covering their tracks. But if people really start digging...
What do you guys think? Is this gonna end up giving us the playoff system that (nearly) everyone has been clamoring for? Or will it just get swept under the rug?

My best guess is that the answers to your last two questions are no and no.The big question is, is this going to blow up the BCS? In all likelihood, the Fiesta Bowl will get dumped from the BCS once the current BCS contract expires (I believe that's after 2013 or 2014). But I think Bozo the JerrahJones sees this as the opportunity to get the Cotton Bowl back into the limelight, and the Cotton merely replaces the Fiesta as the fourth bowl involved in the BCS. Jmho.
