No those who are guilty should be punished...but so far 4 of the 9 have been cleared...interesting nonetheless

"I have raised my son right," Jason Klein stressed Thursday evening. "Storm has no tattoos on his body whatsoever. He doesn't have a drug problem, and multiple tests prove that. I have every single bit of his Ohio State memorabilia in my possession."

"I will be meeting with attorneys shortly to pursue action against the NCAA and Sports Illustrated," he continued. "That's all I have to say at this time."

well then I guess Jason has nothing to worry about....want to wish the old man the best of luck on the lawsuits against Sports Illustrated and the NCAA

YOUNGSTOWN

The father of Ohio State defensive lineman John Simon said Sports Illustrated’s claim that his son traded memorabilia for tattoos is “completely bogus” and feels the magazine is on a “witch hunt” when it comes to the Buckeyes’ football program.

John Simon Sr., whose son is a Cardinal Mooney graduate and will be a junior at Ohio State this fall, said his son has just two tattoos — one on each arm — and that both came from Squirrelly’s Skin Art Inc. in Hubbard.

In this week’s magazine, two SI reporters cited an unnamed source claiming that 15 active members of the team, including Simon, swapped autographs or memorabilia for tattoos at a Columbus tattoo parlor called Fine Line Ink.

“He’s never been in this place or anywhere near this place,” said Simon Sr., whose son is not yet allowed to discuss the article due to an ongoing NCAA investigation. “That’s 100 percent bogus.

“The only thing they got right is the spelling of John’s name.”

Simon Sr. said he can’t speak for the other players mentioned — Ohio State has admitted that six of them, including Warren Harding High graduate Dan Herron, did trade memorabilia for autographs — but said that one of the other nine players mentioned doesn’t even have a tattoo.

“Their source is apparently an unnamed source who hung around the tattoo parlor,” Simon said. “They’re basically putting families and these boys through hell to put a story out that’s bogus.”

Simon said his son often speaks to charities and church groups and is worried the article will taint his reputation.

“He’s like, ‘Dad, these kids are going to think I’m a liar,’” Simon said. “It feels like a witch hunt.

“John’s friends sometimes kid him that he’s sometimes too straight and narrow but he loves what he’s doing so much, he’s not going to mess around.”

Simon said his son has every piece of memorabilia he’s ever received from Ohio State.

“It’s just a bad thing,” he said. “He’s proud to play at Ohio State and proud to be from Youngstown.

“It just seems like these guys wrote something bad about a kid with no reference to anything and then got away with it and went on his merry way.”

and another...I mean a guy of HIGH MORAL FIBER and INTEGRITY (Jalen Rose) even is sticking up and saying this story is SHIT...

I don't either...but my point

If you are guilty...pay the price PERIOD...what I can't stand is said journalist lobbing acquisations and SI delayed the article to have their lawyers check it out...now you have two parents of the accused coming out and saying I have their stuff and what not...so I hate it for the KIDS THAT DO IT RIGHT...

heck if you eff up...so be it...take your medicine and be on your merry way

Man, that's bad.

sc, the first response of damn near everyone who has cheated with regards to steroid usage was denial. Whether these kids cheated or not, their parents will come right out and say they didn't every time. You really expect a parent to get on a soap box and scream "He didn't do it!" and the rest of us just say "OK" and move on? If I were investigating, I would look long and hard FIRST at the people running to the microphone saying they are innocent. Just sayin'.

I mean i am sure the NCAA is asking for proof...doncha think? if they turn out to be innocent are you still going to presume they are guilty...?

If they are guilty punish them...but if they are innocent they have been unfairly dragged through the mud...period that was my point...

it's certainly unfair if kids who did nothing wrong get lumped in with the 40ish kids your own compliance department was all "durr, that's not their car" about. at this point, though, i suppose we'll have to refer to them as collateral damage or something, especially when dad's home run of a point is that "i have all his memorabilia." really, like the guy never signed a magazine for some kid? i suppose homeboy must have tracked that particular kid down and held a gun to his wide while screaming, GIVE ME THE FUCKING MAGAZINE I GET ALL MY SON'S OSU MEMORABILIA!!!!!" either that or other memorabilia was seized from the tattoo parlor bearing his son's signature. but you're right: wait and see.

Right kids sign shit all the time...everywhere...autographs, etc...not denying that...but if they are and I don't know what memorabilia they are saying he sold (if they are claiming gold pants, rings, etc and the parents have it then it shoots that down)...

look I have stated...you find a kid guilty...he gets punished...plain and simple...but if a parent has all the gold pants, rings, etc, in fact tyler moeller took photos and put it on his blog (he wasn't implicated) but you get the point then they are truthful...

just sayin

sc,

It was noted in the article that no one was keeping tabs on the equipment in the athletic department. I have no problem believing the kid's dad has his trophies/rings/gold pants/etc. However, jerseys that are missing from inventory cannot be accounted for by daddy. Whether Storm (fuck the parent who names their son Storm by the way) did that or not, I don't know. What M Club says though rings true. He may be innocent, but the rampant cheating will most likely result in some collateral damage. It always does. All the U$C kids who weren't cheating suffer as well with the sanctions.

While I'm getting some entertainment from watching OSU's self-made misery, I'll agree that everyone (by "everyone," I'm mainly refering to the media) needs to be careful to not escalate this to a witch-hunt.

It's definitely not fair to the innocent kids (assuming there are some at Rock Star University, East Campus).

toejamschmuck wrote:Well, U$C got 2 year postseason ban and lost 30 schollies over 3 years for an agent paying 1 player to leave the team. So since there's 50 players with cars, that means tO$U should get a 100 year postseason ban and lose 1500 schollies over 150 years for 50 players getting cars which is much worse. Anything less means the NCAA is playing favorites and is unfair.

Don't forget...

It's perfectly legit for a booster to buy Joe McKnight an expensive car, as long as it's in his girlfriend's name. But LaMichael James borrowing a car for 3 weeks after getting a death threat is a sign that players are getting extra benefits. And what OSU is doing with the car hookup is inexcusable outside of Los Angeles.

to be honest, the only enjoyment I got out of this was watching Tressel try and tap dance his way out of the mess he created, and only because tOSU always promoted him so heavily as the "integrity" guy....I think it's pretty fucked up that honest kids within the program serve as collateral damage....

Especially since it never happened

The SUV belonged to McKnights girl friend, McKnight only drove the car when she was in it. And on top of everything else, the guy who co signed on the car for McKnights girlfriend is a University of Washington graduate and booster. Nice job fact checking though, any floats drown this summer?

He never drove it on to the schools campus. The one time he was seen driving the car was when he was driving his girlfriend (who owned the car) and their new born baby home from the hospital. The Girlfriend's boss co signed for the car for her before she ever met Joe McKnight. The boss was a family friend, a graduate and a booster from/for the University of Washington and had known the girl since she was young. He did own a domain name that had McKnights name in it but he owned over 200 domain names with pro and amateur players names in them.
