Some baseball team should have a Beatles night like the Sox had Disco Demolition Night. Bring all your CDs, casettes, vinyl, t-shirts and Beatles gear and fucking BURN IT all.

What's funny is that Screwey doesn't realize how badly he's KHOA here.

The Beatles changed music forever. Nothing that came after them until this very day would've been the same, nothing. No British invasion, do the math.

Re: fun discussion of Beatles albums
The sliced bread analogy is inappropriate. People knew how to slice bread.
Nobody knew how to make music like The Beatles.
A better analogy might be the printing press or the incandescent light bulb, that's how revolutionary they were.
They were the gospels of rock n' roll. I love my Zep, Floyd, and Who but realize that without The Beatles, they might've never fucking happened. Might've? No, they wouldn't have.
Anybody who disses them is a flat out ignorant cumstain who should never open their dicksucker about music in civilized society again.

You barely even hear them anymore except on some Oldies radio station and even then damned seldom. You would really have to go out of your way to be "tired" of them.Screw_Michigan wrote:I'm just tired of the Beatles.

Re: fun discussion of Beatles albums
Mention the Beatles to old ma Phibes (blues snob) and out comes the rolling pin. The total saturation they achieved must have been depressing.
A lot of good acts got blown away in that, consensus seems to be 60-63 as this kind of dead zone, that's crap. No real super-groups, just a lot of variety coming from every direction when you get past all the Bobby Vee's.

Great songwriting
Excellent singing and playing
Interesting personalities / vibe
Right place at the right time
Thanks, George (not RR) Martin, for the sound.

What "sense" would lead your "feelings" to believe that Beatlemania was in any way phony?Toddowen wrote:I think a lot of my feelings also come from a sense of the whole beatlemania thing being phony.
It was very real, as my elder sister who saw them live in 1964 would surely attest.

The very last LIVE Beatles performance, on the roof of the Abbey Road studio. No Beatles thread can go forward, backward, or sideways without this.
