McCants has already declared and it's reported that May, Williams and Felton are all leaving too. The Tar Heels will likely be w/ out their Top 7 scorers for next year.

Chris Paul has declared and now Wake's big man, Erik Williams, has declared as well.

Christmas came early in April this year.

I feel for ya UNC fan. I knew that McCants would go but I was hoping for CBB's sake that at least 2 of the 4 would stay. Duke had a similar situation in 99 when it lost 4 to the lottery, but hopefully UNC can bounce back quick, so that the ACC can maintain its dominance.

I don't feel for them. That's the way things roll these days. I'll take a national title for a rebuilding year any day. And like Carolina's rebuilding seasons are great years for most teams.

Shelden was named a captain for next year's team last night at the Duke awards banquet. It doesn't mean he's staying for sure (Dunleavy left in 02 after being named a captain for the next season), but it's a good sign.

UNC will be just fine. Hansbrough is the second coming, or so I've heard.

No joke...I thought May and Marvin Williams would've hung around for another year but all of their key guys leaving and Wake losing Paul and Williams along with the other seniors that left. Duke has to be the favorite going into next year in the ACC as long as Shelden and J.J. come back. Georgia Tech lost a bunch seniors and N.C. State lost Hodge...the ACC might be a one horse race and then a wild scramble for second place. Carolina will still be a solid team but no where near what some were expecting them to be.

I've seen Hansbrough play. Guy kicks ass. Good speed and footwork for his size. He took the #1 team in the country (Vashon) and personally made the team his bitch.

Fuck the local boy going to UNC. Bitch chose his own NBA career over regional bode.

He did bulk up a little this past year but I just don't see him being a successful pro. He needed atleast another year of experience...that's his choice I guess. With McRoberts coming in, Shav won't be missed all that much.

THIS is why the NBA sucks ass. While you have some legit talent coming out, the vast majority will be playing in Europe if they are lucky.

News outlets should do us all a favor, instead of reporting the latest Joe Forte that has left school, give us the list of those that remain, it'll be a much shorter list.

For a 2-round draft...all of these early entries aren't guaranteed of even being picked when you throw in the college seniors and the European prospects. ESPN has the list of guys who have declared...52 so far with a majority of them not hiring an agent. Randolph is listed as not hiring an agent yet.

I've always thought they should adopt a system similar to hockey. Make 18 or 19 the age for draft eligibility and put every player in the country and Europe into the draft pool for that year who pass the age requirement. Hold a 3 or 4 round draft and pick from all of the guys available for that year. All those not picked can keep playing college ball and hope to get picked again next year. Teams can hold the rights to the drafted players for the rest of their college eligilibity or until the player chooses to leave early. They are able to keep their college eligibility until they sign a pro contract.

Plus, they'll need a developmental or minor league system as well. You'll still have guys leave early but atleast they can either go to the NBA or have the option to play in the developmental league for a couple years until their team wants to bring them up. It's a little different with hockey because there is huge junior league system in Canada and Europe in addition to American colleges. I wouldn't be shocked to see a lockout next year until they get this problem resolved. It's not like some 19 and 20 year olds can't cut it in the NBA...it's all of the others that fall through the cracks that need help and guidance.

Apparently Shav's dad was interviewed on one of the local TV stations last night and he told them that Shav was using it as a chance to get feedback from scouts and that he would withdraw by the June 21 deadline. Which isn't too bad of a move, if that is the plan.

Although he hasnt been as good as advertised coming out of HS, he is a good back up to Williams and him coming back would give Duke great depth in the Front Court, w/ the addition of McRoberts to the starting lineup.

Weird way to get evaluated but whatever floats his boat. It'll be good to have him back at Duke next year...he needs to have a really solid year before he can think about the NBA.
