some of those are a little unfair. guys that get hurt (Steve Owens, Trev Alberts, and more) are hardly in the same "bust" category as others. or: style of play issues: who really thinks JC Watts is going to play QB in the NFL? He did have a nice career in the more "wide open" CFL...pretty sure he won the Grey Cup...might have been MVP or something.

Yeah I was careful not to title it as "busts". To ESPN's credit they did call it "Simply Saturday." Tommie Frazier never set foot in an NFL camp due to his blood clot issues.

I can certify he was being a Packer fan. Took him 2nd overall and set the table for the Lions to pick a guy named Barry Sanders. I was pissed for years. Whenever Barry ran roughshod over errr.. around Green Bay, I'd cuss that steroid induced poster boy.Papa Willie wrote:You'd have to ask Mgo, but I'm still pretty sure that Mandarich was still about the biggest bust.
Probably worked to Mgo's favor.

Probably, though fellow Spartan Charles Rogers gave him a serious run for his money.Papa Willie wrote:You'd have to ask Mgo, but I'm still pretty sure that Mandarich was still about the biggest bust.

Babs's love child was a much bigger bust. Mandrich put in some quality years with the Packers and the Colts. Chuck was out of the league in 4 years.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Probably, though fellow Spartan Charles Rogers gave him a serious run for his money.Papa Willie wrote:You'd have to ask Mgo, but I'm still pretty sure that Mandarich was still about the biggest bust.

Number 1 pick in the draft. Never played a down. A real slacker.

Yes, quality. After he slid to guard and moved to Indy, he was a solid player. People love to point to him as a huge bust because of who was drafted around him (Aikman, Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, Derek Thomas) but he was a solid player.Sudden Sam wrote:Quality years?Killian wrote: Mandrich put in some quality years with the Packers and the Colts.

With the Colts maybe, with the Packers, "quality" is an extremely poor adjective. Held out till last week before the season started his rookie year where he didn't make it any farther than special teams, was way out of shape, couldn't get on the field even as a descent reserve, an "all about me guy" in the locker room. If I remember correctly had some type of thyroid issue due to his "chemical" imbalance. Cut after 3rd year of a 4 year deal.Killian wrote:Yes, quality. From Wiki-The question of steroid use has been discussed as a possible factor in Mandarich's spectacular failure. This accusation is one that Mandarich only admitted in 2008. Until then, he publicly blamed his work ethic—in a 2003 Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article: "I wanted to create as much hype as I could for many different reasons—exposure, negotiation leverage, you name it. And it all worked, except the performance wasn't there when it was time to play football."

I'm a little surprised I didn't see Klingler make the list.
