took my boys to see Transformers 3 last weekend...pretty good flick (rack Leonard Nemoy for returning in another Transformers movie to do a voice!) and Megan Fox's replacement was outstanding.

taking them to see Captain American friday night...should be a good one!

Just gettin' old...falling apart. Pieces of my body detaching. Friends dying.

About a month ago I began a 500-1000 crunches and 2 mile walk topped by running stadium steps routine. i do the crunches every day, the walk/stair climbing every other day. I plan on living to be at least 150.

Oh, I thought you had cancer and weren't just a moaning, grumbling old dust-farter.

Nah. I wanna slide right into that stereotypical "bitch and moan about everything as I near 60" mode.

But that's why we have Luther...Wolfman...errr...

Movies You've Seen Recently
Mostly a series of short films. With happy endings.

Its a year of movies without much quality. I don't understand how Hollywood has run out of ideas, or maybe its the assholes in charge who are approving these scripts. I know there is some creative thinking out there and some bad ass scripts, but they are at the bottom of an endless pile of junk.

Inception was the last original idea.
Shutter Island was great.
Edge of Darkness was bad ass.

That's about the last three movies I can think of that were brilliantly done. I thought the A-Team was somewhat entertaining for what it was, but nothing has made me hop off my seat since then.

This year is the worst yet...

Green Lantern = bad
Hangover II = okay
Fast Five = okay
X-Men First Class = bad
No Strings Attached = bad
Just Go With It = bad
The Adjustment Bureau = bad

I heard Pirates IV was just like all the others.

I haven't seen Limitless or Lincoln Lawyer but I heard their just okay.

I'm hoping Captain America is 10X better than the Green Lantern. Dear God please tell me Chris Evans can pull this movie off. I hope its not a weak script with over the top action to hide the shitty dialogue.

Tree of life.

i like Malick. not my fave flick from him, but cathartic. dinosaurs were a bit iffy.

inception was crap after the first 30 minutes.

2 summers ago, Moon and Inglorious Bastards were deece.

I hadn't rented a dvd in years, just lost interest and would watch shit on cable like HBO on demand or just fuck off on the internet. But I just bought a flat screen TV (yeah, welcome to the 21st century) and decided to hook the dvd player back up.

So there's a Blockbuster nearbye that hasn't been boarded up yet and they're renting most everything that's not a new release for $0.99 - $0.49 on Sundays. First movie I rented was The Hurt Locker. It was tremendous. I'm sure there's a lot of other movies I haven't seen yet that would be worth the time so off to Blockbuster I go.

What did you expect? When you pay to see big budget shit shows, that's what you're going to get.

i have the long version of Carlos....i thought it was quite good. and probably an all-timer of a film with "number of different languages requiring subtitles"....at least 5-6 different languages spoken in the film. maybe more.

How many cable providers do you have at your disposal? I have Verizon and Comcast or whatever the fuck they call themselves and it's pretty easy to get free channels every few months by threatening to leave one for the other. My deal with Verizon is something like $80/ month which includes a HD DVR, Showtime/Stars/Epix.

BTW The Hurt Locker is available on Demand via Stars w/ Verizon. Great movie. I love the sniper in the desert scene.

What? I'm pretty good at extorting getting concessions out of Comcast, and I'm paying $80, but I don't have DVR included. I just got Comcast to credit me $45 for MASN2 being shitty, even with a new cable box. I should get on that.

saw "the guard" last night with the gf at Denver's historic Mayan Theater. good times.

good flick....irish black humor of sorts. very funny.

"like an encounter between Father Ted and the Bad Lieutenant". pretty apt.

trailer:

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3330710553/

running 96% at rotten toms.

I watched this via NetFlix streaming last week:

Image
What if a 1980s American aircraft carrier (with its modern firepower) time-warped back to Pacific waters just outside Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941? World history -- and the U.S. entry into World War II -- might have played out very differently. Given that scenario, should the crew prevent the disaster, or let history remain? That's the intriguing premise in this sci-fi adventure that stars Kirk Douglas, Katharine Ross and Martin Sheen.
The premise of the movie was what made me watch but I was really disappointed. Katharine Ross was VERY fuckable back then.
