West coast roadie during the winter?

Thinking of doing one during the xmas break.

is this a bad idea? What is the central coast like during the winter? I suspect it is prolly 'bout like the summer with a little more rain. Would like to go back to yosemite sam park, with the realization that even though i'm a fan of stupid rental car stunts, we prolly ain't driving over tioga pass.

what's SF like at xmas? do they dress up their homeless like elves? that would be so cool. might swing down to local just to hop in the ocean and maybe drop a deuce in mikey's pool. how far south do you have to go to find swimmable water without a wet suit that time of year?

SF is usually the same, minus about 10-12 degrees... but it's prone to winter rains, like here.

Tioga Pass usually closes around late October for the winter. I was able to drive up there in the middle of December one year, but that was highly unusual.

But winter time is one of the best times to visit the park. It has very few visitors, and it's incredible when the trees are all covered with snow.

florida's a'ight that time of year when the 92/92 heat/humidity takes a 4 month vacation, otherwise picture orange county with humidity and fewer asians..... and swamps, once you get outside the cities. endless nice beaches though. plus those beaches have water warm enough for humans to go into. kind of a foreign concept to a U&Ler. actually, this time of year, especially on the gulfside, the water is to fukking warm to go into. water temps close to 100.

Winter water temps around here (about as far south as you can get in upper Mexico) are usually around 50 to 55 deg. Just a little cold for swimming. Central coast can be nice, but it can be stormy. Not too warm either way, though. If you want a warm weather winter vacation around here I guess you need to head to Scottsdale, Yuma or maybe somewhere else along the river. Even Vegas gets effing cold in the winter (a lot colder than here).

sounds like a december beach vaca to local is out. if i want 55 degree water, i can go to maine this time of year and watch fat drunk french canadiens in speedos stumble into the water.

kind of looking more like we'll just wait till next summer and battle the crowds.

if we do go, we'll do SF and prolly wander down the coast to big sur, then maybe inland and check out some of that high desert winter weather that todd says is nice. whatever it is, i guess it beats chipping ice out of the gutters here.

The weather here sucks 24/7, it is gross and cold and boring. You might want to stay away.
